I had a workshop today and the hostess had over $750 in sales. She did not order a single thing and got three exclusive hostess sets (valued at $60) and a little over $100 in totally FREE merchandise. No shipping, no tax, no nothin'!!!

She was thrilled to get over $160 of merchandise totally FREE and I was thrilled with my commission!!

Cool!

but I'm even more amazed that she had the willpower not to order anything for herself! I didn't think that was possible, LOL, the way stamping sucks ya in! Simply amazing!

That is awesome and I don't know how she had the will power and didn't order anything extra. I am amazed, cuz I know I can't do it.

I can't help myself when I place an order for myself and get over $150, I always think, oh I'm past $150 I might as well go to $200, and so on and so on and so on

My ladies all love the freebies. They all kinda hang around to see what the hostess gets for free. I've only had a couple that haven't added a little something to it though

At my workshop last week, the hostess was nervous about making the low level of $150. I told her not to worry. Well, as it turns out, her party ended up being over $750! She got $100 in free merchandise and three sets too! She was SO pleased. She couldn't believe how easy it was. I wish I could get $100 in free stuff!

I've very rarely had a hostess that didn't place an order for herself to add to her total, but it has happened.

I really like this business model; so many direct sales companies give you half price selections and if you don't like them, then you are pretty much stuck. I think Shelli was very wise to go with totally free stuff instead.

She is a regular customer/hostess and usually does order, however she had an unexpected auto repair bill last week but didn't want to reschedule her workshop. She told me that she wouldn't be able to order anything so I was so happy for her that her sales were so good and she got everything absolutely FREE!!! .
I agree that I am not too thrilled with other direct sales companies that offer half price selections or a certain % off special items and then charge tax and or shipping as well.

WOOHOO SU!!!!

When my hostesses have a WS that large, I find they often don't order extra. Honestly, that was my first WS level as a customer and I didn't order extra, either. I didn't have a big enough wish list because my demo didn't tell me to! That never happens now and, of course, I encourage all my hostesses to have a REALLY BIG wish list. Congrats on a great WS.

She was too!!

I demoed the Watercolor Wonder Crayons with that super cute Halloween set called Booglie Eyes and the Halloween Night Papers. Eight out of the eleven guests bought at least two sets of crayons and a few bought the stamp set and papers to go with them. I am so happy that SU decided to offer the crayons in separate color families.

WOOHOO SU!!!!

I love that this year you have the potential to earn a free set from each level when you have a great workshop. I also like that the free sets have more "bang" than they have in years past - plus you don't have to shell any money out to get them.

I just earned the level 2 hostess set Both Way Blossoms and I am so excited to get it! The samples made with it have been amazing!

To the OP - isn't it so fun when someone earns a lot of freebies - I think I get almost as excited as they do!

Yeah, I was reminded of how much I love SU!'s hostess bennies last week when I had a very tasteful food-based party at my house. I had $700 worth of sales, but no bookings. So, I earned $70 of free food and a really small leaf ceramic dish. IF I had had bookings, I could have earned more of the ceramic stuff and the "right" to get product at 50% off. Compare that to what a $700 SU! hostess earns - as many as 3 FREE hostess sets AND $95 worth of anything FREE from the catalog - and it's not dependent on your bookings! (plus their min. shipping was $5.95 for anything under $50....I sure appreciate SU! is still $3.95) Interesting, huh?

Not to be a wet blanket -- that is a *great* deal for your hostess -- sales tax is charged on the value of the hostess $$ stuff. At least it is here in CA. Congrats to you both on the great workshop!

Happy trails....

Does that mean in the US you only have to pay 3.95 for anything under $50? In Canada we have to pay 10% no matter what we order. Am I missing something? I thought it was the same on the south side of the border too.

The sales tax varies by state. Here in MN, they do have to pay sales tax on the free merchandise, but in GA, where my mom lives, they don't.

No, in Canada shipping is 10% with a minimun shipping charge of $9.95, so if your order is less than $100 the shipping is $9.95. This is on a customer order, it doesn't apply to qualifying workshops, the shipping at workshops is 10%.

Here in New Jersey there is no tax or shipping charge on any hostess benefit. (The Hostess sets or the free merchandise.) I love that! I always have a workshop when the new catalog comes out and at Sell A Bration. As a teacher, I usually get some $ gifts from my students and I use that. (From my end of the year gift for the new catalog party, and my Christmas gift for the Sell A Bration party. Both of these times each year, everyone buys lots! So I've always had good workshops, free stuff and used only gift money for the things I actually have purchased. I have built up my stash really quickly that way! I LOVE THIS!!!!!

Way to go!!!! I hope to get a nother party like that in the future as well...have had only one at $750 and another at $660 otherwise they have been the normal $150-$350 range. My hostesses are always excited about getting their totally free stuff though! I always look at the hostess charts on other home based parties and wonder why they dont offer free product versus half off items...I guess I am just spoiled with SU! I know I won't host any other company unlkess they offer free $$ on product rather then 50% off stuff...just my opinion.

Congrats! That sounds great! I have a few hostesses that hold workshops because they can't afford big orders, but that way they get some of what they want. They end up being my best customers because of those that attend their workshops. I am so glad they get rewarded!

Gotta love freebies.

Congrats Bard on such a great w/s!!

WAY TO GO!! I had a hostess at the beginning of the year for Sell-a-bration get a $955 workshop and she got $130 in free stuff!! She had a whole box all to herself when it shipped! She is now going to do a workshop in October for Christmas and has expressed an interest in items from the Holiday mini. I can't wait to see if she's going to top the last one...

Awesome for you and the hostess! Doesn't it make you feel good to tell her what her hostess earnings where? I bet she was stoked that she was able to get all that stuff for FREE after a bummer of a auto bill.

No taxes or shipping on hostess benefits here in Canada. The only time you pay is if you go over the earned free amount. Hope this helps.
