Default wanting to create a website

HI, It's been quite awhile since I've been on here and I'm needing some help.
I have built up my courage to make my own website, but I"m scared and unsure where to begin. I am looking for something that is easy (basically a template would help a lot), something cheap (this is a SIDE business, not something I want to sink a lot of money into every month ::not even $20 a month::, and something that I can customize as much as I want. No extra fancy bells or whistles needed. I'm not trying to sell anything from the site, just a few pages to get my work out there so others can see. I will need to be able to download pictures and adjust things as needed. Also, I would like to have an easy domain name.... www.(something).com. I have searched and have ended up more confused. I want some place I can trust and can happily and easily use. So, if you can offer some suggestions on places that you have maybe used yourself or know of places NOT to use, I would appreciate some help. THANKS

Since you are just starting out, I would really recommend to start a blog. I use www.blogspot.com. It was very easy to start with a lot of different templates to use, and as you get more familiar with the site there are a lot of ways to change your layout as well as add different elements. Best of all, the site is FREE! Hope this helps.

Default I have my own website...

and I have been very happy with www.bestwebhost.com for domain registering (your address www.something.com) and web hosting. It costs $14.99 a year to get your domain name registered and $9.99 a month for web hosting. The owner is super friendly and helpful. I use MS FrontPage to create my website and they have templates you can use. I am sure there are other web page softwares out there that you could get for free.

I am a very new blogger but found Typepad very easy to work with. It took a little bit to figure out but so does any site. Also, since you are doing a little business....Typepad also offer's a store widget with PayPal that seems pretty easy. I haven't worked with that but I'm sure it can't be too hard. My cost for my Typepad blog is $89 annually but you can do a free one as well and can upgrade anytime you want.

While I think Typepad offers a free tryout, the cheapest plan is $4.95 a month. check out this website for pricing info.

I would wholeheartedly recommend anybody who wanted the capabilities of a website, with low cost, easy maintenance, lots of options/flexibility, and online support, to go with Typepad.

I have been with them for over 2 years now, and am using their Pro-Level service. Typepad ROCKS! I love those guys!
