No scanner in my house! Just a digital camera for capturing all my designs. I actually prefer a photographed image to a scanned one ... much easier to capture dimension that way.

I just set a piece of white cardstock on my counter and a piece behind my design and use my digital camera to take the picture. I have two Ott lights that I use to light my photo area. Then once the pictures are taken, I use Picasa (a photo editing software) to sharpen the images and adjust the fill light and highlights of the picture. I also use Paint Shop Pro to crop and the picture and add the designer and copyright info. Kind of a lot of steps for a picture, but I am a bit of a perfectionist! LOL!

Oh, and that reminds me--I've posted "for more information, check out this link" when I've uploaded a card, but I've never skimped out on the details! I add my cards to SCS and my own gallery, so I'm busy with cutting and pasting all over the place. I agree--it's only fair! And kind. But I have a beef with the people who put NOTHING down at all (especially when I'm approving and I have no idea what set someone used and I have to put it some where and they didn't tell me what it's called so now I have to pull down all my catties!!! ). But I digress.

After all these years, I finally got you on SCS, Erika. My, that amuses me! It's so fun to see you posting along with me! Hugs!

I enjoyed reading everyone's thoughts about blogging. I always add the recipes to my cards on SCS and I will sometimes direct people to my blog just because I like to ramble about my card and why I made it and that is a little too long for the description part in the gallery I have my blog to share my creativity and tips with customers, family (all of my family lives over 2,000 miles away), and stamping friends.

I love going through people's blogs and reading about what they create and I love when people have little tips about how to do things. I often smack my forehead and say "oh THAT is how you do it "

I started a blog to motivate me & to help me keep in touch with my friends who share the same interests. I have always been a journal type person and I figured that blogging will help me remember things for when I want to scrapbook them later. That being said, I do find it hard to update my blog daily with photos. I have a number of "unpublished" posts but it serves as my scratch pad of sorts that I can tweak and then publish later.

BTW, I love reading everyone's blogs and I get a great kick out of everyone's writings!

Same set up here, 2 sheets of cardstock, one on the bottom, one against the wall, 2 OTT lights, and sometimes my ceiling can lights if necessary, and then I photoshop em' for the cropping and inserting of name and info.

I have no blog, I read no blogs. I have enough trouble keeping up with my own life (kids' homework, soccer practices, games, tennis lessons, work, meal prep, grocery shopping, spiritual nurturing, spending time with DH, SCS forum & gallery perusal, making my own crafts, LOST, The Amazing Race, etc) to add reading about someone else's life. I just have to leave something out, and blogs are it for me.

LOL! I'm starting to feel like my whole life is full of too many good things I love and I too need to cut back somewhere... it can be a real sinking feeling to be overcommitted. I'm my own worst enemy sometimes.

My blog is not just for stamping. I enjoy sharing photography, life happenings, and even things that creep me out! DID YOU SEE THAT GROSS SPIDER!

When i do post a stamping design on my blog, I tend to include more of a story about the design on my blog than I do on my SCS uploads. Doing so helps me connect the design to my non-stamping readers (who don't visit SCS).

I love catching up on blogs ... but I also love SCS and I cruise the galleries and forums more than ever seeing the amazing work of all the artists sharing on SCS. I continue to be amazed at the quality of work being posted to the galleries. *clap clap clap!*
ditto!!

I blog for friends and family. I blog about my daily life, but also post projects I have done. My blog is only posted on my email signature because frankly, lol, most people would be bored with it.

I love you, Sunshine Mama. You know, I wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for you! Thanks for passing the stamping bug to me all those years ago. And we even met on a sort-of blog/message board (whatever you want to call LiveJournal)!

So here's to stamping, blogs and friendship!

LOL! That's why I have four blogs and one LiveJournal. I keep stamping in one place, knitting in another, theology in another, 101 goals in yet another and life-in-general under wraps (cause LiveJournal can be private for "friends-only"). But that's me. I'm crazy like that...

How do you start a blog? I have my own domain (came with my new email address) that is a blank slate. Can I just get some software, or do you have to purchase a domain from a site that is set up for blogs?

I started mine using Typepad. It's all set up for blogging and the templates that you can choose from are great. I pay $8.95 a month for mine, but that's because I wanted a specific configuration of how my blog was set up and couldn't get that with the basic account, which is $4.95 a month.

I looked over blogspot, blogger and Typepad and the one that I liked the best, for layout designs, was Typepad, so that's what made my decision. I decided on going with a site that was already set up because I'm not as computer savvy as I like to fake that I am.....so being able to just plug stuff in was perfect for me.

Well, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't be on SCS (as you're the one that introduced me to it years ago) and I wouldn't have a blog.

I love you, too!

I wouldn't pay for a blogging service, but that's probably because my husband is a web designer and he can do all sorts of things for me. He would suggest you check out Word Press. I believe you can have a blog with your own domain name through them because that's what he uses and his blog has a custom name. HTH!
