Well, I don't know if my method is very good, but I like it for me. I have several decorative baskets, and I divided up my loose stamps in catagories, and put them in the baskets. For instance, I have a basket with my Christmas stamps in it and I have one with all the stamps from another company in it and so on. They are easily accessable and they look good, but I do have to split a basket when it gets too many to go through easily and have two baskets for that catagory. Hope you find something that works for you!
If they are mounted, they are stored in plastic cases like SU. I get them from www.stampmagick.com I like having the rubber protected. I place like things together or by theme.
Un-mounted are stored on a plastic sheet and placed in 6x9 catalog envelopes, sealed and cut in half then stored in a 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 Snap&Scrap Photo box. You can store more by this way.

My SU sets are in the drawers of a large dresser. My individual stamps are stored in Sterilite Clearview three drawer containers similar to the one shown below (except this pic is of the "mini" one, mine are larger):
You can get quite a few stamps in each drawer, and you can get two layers in each drawer. I have the drawers organized such as "Christmas", "Sayings", "Nature", etc. I have four of these stacked on top of the SU! dresser mentioned above, and also have two additional ones sitting on my desk to hold supplies.
Edited to add: You can buy them fairly cheap at Target.... and I finally found a pic of the ones I have I can't paste it here though! I'll add another post with it.
SU stamps are in their cases in my Iris carts. "Loose" wood mounted stamps are stored by category in Office Depot Poly See-Through String Envelopes. They are larger than the Smead and and just like "Craft Keepers", but so much cheaper! I get a package of 10 for $7.99. I add a piece of cardboard for sturdiness on the rubber side and the label of the stamp shows through on the other. I also keep extra of these on hand for traveling with my stamps. I slide the boxes in, tie it up and store in my bag. Takes up the same space as an ablum in my bag.

Thanks for all the great idea's. I have a couple of the iris carts but they have other craft stuff in them but I think I can clean them out and use them for much better things, like all my stamps. :-D
I have posted this before, but I take my SU stamps out of their containers.. aaaahhh I know, but I find it easier to store. All of my stamps, both SU and other companies, are divided up by category and placed in a rainbow plastic drawer system (bought at Bjs, similar to the Iris carts)... I have it right next to my craft table.
All my SU stamps are in their containers (as are my few CTMH sets) and stored in no perticular order (which needs to change). All my loose stamps are stored in a hat box (which probably also needs to change).
Loving seeing all these ideas!

For my loose stamps I have a shelf set (actually it is a bell holder that I laid on it's side). I also have an old printers organizer (lots of little open slots) that I found at a garage sale. Each hole holds a stamp and it mounts to the wall so I can see it but they are out of the way. I seperate them by subject (holiday, words, kids, garden, etc).
I keep all of mine in their original cases in those 3 drawer rolling carts by Sterilite. I've been getting too many sets so I think I may have to organize by category ... So far, that's been working for me. Al my other non-SU stuff is jumbled in one drawer ... gotta change that. I'm tempted to get some extra clear cases from SU to better organize them by category 'cause some sets are a mix. Who knows!

All of my stamps, all brands, are store in cd cases. I keep everything organized in cd towers etc. I also replace all the foam with the Creative Cling that The Angel Company has.

Hi, I'm am SU demo. I keep the SU stamps in their original boxes. Those boxes are kept on the DOOR of my craft room. I bought a really cheap door organizer from Wal-Mart. It holds the containers vertically. I can then stack the others on top. Currently I have 71 NON Retired sets and they all fit great in this one spot. The "Retiring" sets are kept in their boxes in a Crop In Style XXL-27 +and mini catty ones. This keeps them seperate.
My other stamps are kept in the 12x12 Scrapbook plastic containers that look like ENORMOUS SU containers. I keep them by themes. I have over 50 of these containers with just stamps. I keep them on shelves over my bed. I also make jewelry out of beads and crystals. Those are also kept in these same containers by color. I buy them at Michaels. Use one coupon per person a trip-three of go. They retail for $6.99.
I store my SU stamps in their original boxes. Then whatever room is left in the SU box, I add open stock stamps in with it (or incentive stamps) to fill the box. No wasted space that way and the stamps all stay neatly in their spots since the box is full.
I've only been stamping since January (I got addicted QUICK!) but my good friend who invited me to my first SU party gave me the best idea for organization. Ok, it's not how I store my stamps but it does save me dragging a bunch down off the shelf where I stack them. Whenever I get a new set, I make a copy of the label sheet before I mount them. If I buy a set already mounted, I just stamp the image on a plain piece of paper. All of these sheets are in page protectors in a notebook. When making a card, I can flip through the notebook rather than pulling out all the stamps. Even in just 4 months, I've accumulated enough that I tend to forget that I have some of them, especially those individual ones I buy!
My stampin area is in my kitchen, I have a high cupboard for extra storage. I use swiffer wet containers. One for stickers, One for adhesives, and one for loose stamps. They are the perfect size for the cupboard and I don't have to spend my stamping money on containers. As I go through more packs of swiffer wet, I add more containers. Next one will be ribbons and fibers I think. I have great ribbon storage but it is starting to overflow. I still keep my SU stamps in the clear boxes but they aren't as perfect a fit as the swiffer. I also catalogue my stamps in a book, ever since I bought my third Happy Birthday stamp because I thought I didn't have a stamp that said Happy Birthday.

Thanks ladies you have really given me a lot to think about and some great idea's when it comes to storing my stamps. I cleaned out one of my iris carts that was being used for other stuff and have them all organized (except for Xmas) in there, but I do really like the idea of making a cataloge of which stamps I have. Thanks again for all the great idea's. I am so glad I found this website.
I use clear box frames - the acrylic kind - and I store them in there by category.
My one suggestion - if you go this route - is to pick a size and stick with the same size.
I goofed and bought a few of another size and they don't stack well so I had to put all of one category in that size frame.
DOPEY!!
I also index my stamps in a mini photo album w/ pull out pages so I can rearrnage them.
The small albums are small enough to bring into a store or convention to make sure I don't duplicate stamps.
I just started in January also and I have been using the gladwear containers for my non-su stamps. I divide them by categories (i.e. butterflies) and then label the box with a sticky. They are about the same size as the su boxes and stack really well. They are about $2.50 for 4 containers.

GOOD IDEA!!! i've been trying to figure out a way to 'see' what i have without having to drag down boxes... i LIKE it! Also, since i'm thinking of doing a lot of UM's, i'm thinking a binder system would work better for my space (vs. CD cases) and i can put the 'labels' in the same binder (eventually to be binders, i'm sure...)
THANK YOU!

I have some built-in shelves where I store my SU stamps alphabetically in their clear boxes. I have half a shelf for BG stamps and another half for monograms. I have tried several ways, but this works best for me. I do not alphabetize within the letter category because that takes too much time, but just having them by letter helps me stay organized. I have them on their sides so I don't have to take any other stamps off the top or bottom. I have my loose stamps in some Martha Stewart mini-bins by company.
Mine are in their clear boxes and I have place them in a four Drawer in their side showing the name of each stamp set. I have one drawer that is all my losse stamps in it. This make it easyer to look for a stamp set.
Ditto! I have 9 of these. I use them to store my open stock stamps, ink pads, wheels, & other misc. stuff. I keep all my SU stamps in their original containers on a shelf. My husband made me 2 shelves the whole length of the one wall and 12" deep. I love them.

I use these too, for all kinds of things from individual stamps to containers of eyelets, some ribbon etc. I also keep larger individual stamps in a larger white drawer unit under my table. There's a pic in my gallery: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
They're really nice to have. I have a 3x6 foot table, and since the table is deep, I was able to creat a wall of goodies right at my fingertips (and kneecaps!) ;)

I have a large 5 drawer sterlite container that I keep my SU sets in, I organize those by small, medium, large cases with labels on the front of the drawers with the names of the sets. for my individual non-SU stamps I have a 3 drawer sterlite container with larger drawers on wheels with small dollar store baskets in them and I have a book that I "catalog" all the stamps in, I numbered each page and then I have flowers on a page, words on another, symapthy, kids, animals etc... if a praticular type of stamp is continued on another page I make a note of it at the bottom of the page as to which page to go to, then I number each stamp and make note of it next to each stamped image then when I need a stamp I look in my "catalog" and then find that stamp by number in the drawer, I also made stickers for each drawer as to which numbers are in each drawer, (ex. 1-120). I also have the smaller sterlite containers on my table and have them labeled as to what is in them, makes everything easier for me to find but everyone tells me "you have to much time on your hands". Hope my discription of my space doesn't confuse everyone.
I plan to post pics of my stamping "corner" after I get it cleaned up, maybe today I will work on that.

This is what I had been using to store my wood mounted stamps (my mom built it for me). Stamps are sorted by category (snowmen, cats, dogs, plants, flowers, birthday, thank you, friends, etc.):
But now I am switching over to the EZ Mount system (vinyl cling) so my stamps are stored by set in CD cases in a CD rack.
I don't have many stamps other than SU sets. Those I do have are kept in baskets on a shelf in my scrap room.
I do have quite a few acrylic/clear sets. These I keep in photo boxes.
As for SU sets... I got some really great advice from a friend. She told me that before she mounts her stamps make a copy of the sheet of images. Then put the copy in the box with the mounted stamps. She said that as a demo she would do workshops or stamp camps and so on and when she was finished her stamps were mixed up. This way there is no question that she was getting them into the right set without spending time to double check them in the catalog. This gets less important as you get used to what stamps are in what sets but when the new catty comes out it is very helpful.
I am not sure that this is much help to all of you. But for those of us that are new to this stuff it is really helpful. I am gald that I learned it early on so most of my sets are like this.
I also stamp my images before I mount them so that I make sure there is no rubber that is picking up ink. When I do this I stamp all of one set together on a page (sometimes I can get more than one set on a page). Then I put these pages into a binder by category. My friends and I share sets pretty frequently so when they call I can refer to this binder to see if I have the set they are looking for.
I am not a very organized person and have a terrible memory so all the little things make it a little easier for me. :p
