those tiny die cuts, how do you....?

I am loving branching out to use many sets that have coordinating die cuts but the tiny ones are a challenge. Think of a little bird for butterfly smaller than your pinky nail.

One and all, please share any tips you have for getting the stamped image and die cut lined up! Do you stamp first and then cut? Or cut and then stamp? Any secrets you can share will help.

Now I use the MISTI to do this, but you could also use a stamp-a-ma jig if you like to cut first.

I stamp first and then cut a die template to line up my die for cutting, like this:

Thanks, Lydia. Great video. The idea of making a template to place over the stamped image occurred to me about two hours after I wrote this.The die is so tiny you really can't see to line it up.
The die I'm talking about was the bird for this card:
