Default Thinking of becoming a TAC angel...*merged*

I'm looking for input- but I don't have those flame retardent panties on so please be kind...I'm currently a SU! demo and am thinking of "retiring" and becoming a TAC angel. I've been reading the posts about TAC's new catty (although I haven't seen it yet) and it sounds awesome. Now I know I haven't SEEN it yet. I have last years...and I'm hoping the stamp sets are improved.

Anyways- this is why I'm thinking about the switch. I LOVE SU! images! The only way I can afford what I want is by applying my workshop sales towards my purchases and then adding cash to it. I've been a demo since 8/05...and in that time I've had more than a handful of gals come to my house and have a blast stamping and leave empty handed because the prices were too high. I live in a working class town! I have a GOOD job as a teacher- um, what does that tell you - if you know about teaching salaries in AZ?

TAC seems much more affordable. I want people to find joy in stamping and not leave empty handed! Another plus is the ability to SELL handmade items at fixed stores (which is not allowed with SU!). This could help support my habit. I'm also in a small town and accessories, accessories, accessories. We have one LSS, which in my opinion is overpriced and ofted doesn't have the accessories I want.

So enough with my rambling- what do you think? I already have lots of SU! ink and do like the color families of SU! ... please help

I would say first and foremost look at their new catalog. See if it's something you can get behind. I am one of those that thinks the catty this year for TAC is waaaaaayyyyyy better then last year. After you have seen the catty and have decided if it is something you can get behind or not that may make your decision easier. Good Luck!

Beth - you are doing the right thing - getting input before you make any decisions. There are significant differences between the two companies - of which one is always more fitting to one while the other is more fitting to another. I know SU! demos who will always be SU! and Angels who will always be Angels! It's a matter of which fits you better.

First you will need to get a catalogue from TAC to see what they offer this year. Then sit down and make a list of the pros and cons for each company for YOU. Not the things that are mentioned by others but what YOU see as a pro or con. After you do that look at each item and think on it to see what is most important.

If you have questions ask those that demonstrate for TAC - don't hesitate to ask even the most detailed of questions. There are never any silly questions! You have to have the answers to make your decision!

Then - if you think that SU! is the shoe that still fits the best then wear it with pride. If you think TAC will fit better than find a team that you will be happy to work with and will support you in your hobby or business!

Let us know if you have any questions!

I am looking at becoming a demo too. I love TAC stamps and I really think their images improved with the new catty. Plus, I was amazed at the embellishments that are in this years catty. And its always so affordable.

As others said, look at the pros and cons. Then do what you feel is best for you and your customers. You might even want to have an informal night with your stamping friends, show them the catty, any TAC stamps you may have and how the unmounted stamps work. An make sure you show them the GWP stamps they are so cute this year! Then ask their opinion. Is this something they would want to purchase? Ultimately, it comes down to what is best for you. Good luck!

The TAC start up program is pretty awesome too... I wonder how many people actually get that $500 in merchandise- two recruits in the first three months seems pretty difficult. (Now here's a question- if you get two recruits in your first month, does that count towards the program since you are supposed to do it in "the next 30 days" and then "the next 30 days"?)

I don't believe that 2nd one would count in that 2nd month. Sorry!

There is so much excitement on this board that it's contagious! I love to see everyone getting so excited - just make sure the decision is right for you before making a final decision. There are many great companies out there and you definitely want to make sure the fit is right for you.

Default TAC Perfect Start Program

Good afternoon, ladies - I just wanted to make a quick comment. Jana was correct in her statement about signing 2 recruits in your 1st month - you would still have to sign a recruit in your 2nd month in order to qualify for the Perfect Start program. I had the pleasure of chatting with Mischelle - the owner - at a corporate event right after I joined in February and since my very 1st goal was the complete the Perfect Start Program and get that certificate, I asked her that very question.

As I've mentioned on this board previously, I did complete my Perfect Start in May and just redeemed my gift certificate - the company just changed it's policy and you can now get their awesome new paper in addition to stamps with that gift certificate - HOW COOL IS THAT!? I literally just doubled my inventory. But it also feels good to work towards a goal and achieve it.

This company is awesome, whether you're a hobbiest, or you want more.

Ok, I'm done now. Have a great day!

LOL - I wasn't talking about your post! Seems we answered about the same time. I was answering about the original "if you recruit 2" post. Let me clarify my answer...

If you recruit 2 recruits in the 1st month they cannot count towards the 2nd or 3 month. You have to recruit in the month specified...like the outline that Nancy posted! Thanks for posting the full program Nancy - that helps everyone!

Beth - I can sense your excitement, yet hesitation! I think it is awesome that you're doing your homework first. That's what I did. I'd been to one SU party and knew I loved stamping but also knew that I thought SU was on the expensive side. And I am NOT a "sales" person therefore I KNEW I could not sell something I personally thought was too pricey. So I started researching others companies. Got a CTMH catalog. Didn't care for it at all. Found out about TAC, got a catalog, tried the stamps, and signed up. It just FELT right, know what I mean? We women have those gut instincts for a reason!

If any of you have any more questions about the way TAC works, just ask! We'd love to have you BUT don't want you to jump on board then be sorry either! (By the way, I just don't think that's possible! HAHAHAHA)

The stamps seem so cute. I'm just waiting for the catty to go online- as I dont know any Demo's. Can I ask did anyone start without an upline? Did it turn out OK, or am I hijaking this thread??? Thanks....

You do need to have an upline to sign up with TAC. Not just so you have that 'name' but having an upline that will help you and support you, whether you are a hobbyist or builiding a business, is very important!

If you need help just let someone here know or contact TAC and they will be happy to help you out!!!

I am seriously considering signing up as a TAC demo and I just stopped being a hobby demo for SU. I agree the discount is awesome and that the prices are fun. I just received my first order, and I can't wait to get stampin (family is in town, kinda hindering me)

I say go for it. You are not married to SU. I will still be a SU customer, I just see a lot of the TAC catalog that I can get excited about and I will spend my money with the company that makes stamps that I like.

I am a hobby demo for SU - I've never had a workshop or sold to anyone but myself! I just do it for the discount. Is it possible, or OK, to be a hobby demo for both companies? Just wondering, 'cause I'd love the discounts on both! TIA for your responses!

You cannot be a demo for both companies. That is against both SU! and TAC policy. You have to pick one or the other. Sorry! It would be cool though!

Yeah, they don't want ya helping out the competition! HAHAHA

About the upline thing - like Jana said, you do have to sign up under someone. I didn't know enough to "search" around. I signed up under the ONLY local one around here - 1/2 hour away from me. Well she was not real active and soon deactivated completely. So I'm basically an orphan! LOL BUT BUT BUT, you do NOT have to sign with someone "in person". There are a LOT of demos that have downlines spread all across the states and whom they've never met in person. And they are better uplines than some who are right next door so-to-speak. Even though I don't have an "upline" (I don't hear from the person I rolled up to either), I get a LOT of support and inspiration from A Shade of Blue. (I HOPE to meet some of them in person next year at seminar!!!!) I'm just saying - you can find your support online, so "shop" around for your upline. I didn't know enough to do that, but I'm fine with it. Whatever works for YOU!

Here's A Shade of Blue:

And if you are one who doesn't have an upline that is actively involved please let other demonstrators know (no matter which company you demo for!). There are always those that love to bring 'adopted' demos into their family. That means they do not become your upline in way of making anything from you, but help you out when you need it and give you support. Unfortunately this does happen in every company. But there are always those ready to make you a part of their family! I have someone from SU! as an adoptee - we might not demo for the same company but she was 'alone' and needed some help getting her business off the ground so she's now apart of my 'family' and we network to make us both better demonstrators!

Oh thank you I saw that website. It looks good. I may post there as well. I am thinking that if I get an upline I guess I would want them fairly close to me. I guess I am having a hard time deciding how active I want to be. I would love to sell but have no networking- other than SU club and I really don't want to step on toes there. And as a note: I will still buy SU products too!

I know- by tomorrow I will probly be posting on here lookingfor an upline...

I found my now upline right here on SCS. I asked her a zillion questions before I signed up, and she was great about answering everything. So I signed up with her. I used to Demo for SU and my upline lived 10 mins away and I never heard from her.... nothing, no "great job" on your first huge party...zilch..nada...no contact.... I love my upline now and though she is in another state and I hope to meet her someday!!!!

Great thread! I just got my first TAC catty and Love it! I see above that your quarter minimum is $100, that would be great because I would mostly just be a hobby demo, but what about the discount? I can't seem to find that info anywhere! Can someone fill me in a bit about that? I did find that shipping is 15% (a little high in my opinion, but shipping anywhere is high)...

I don't think I could ever make the perfect start one (finding people to sign up under me - small town - wouldn't happen!) but that would be great.

I know stampin up calls it an "Instant Income" for the 20%, but what is the discount for TAC -
Thanks!

The discount is 30% for demonstrator discount orders and the commission (return on retail sales) is 25%. The commission is paid twice monthly by check so it is not like the "instant income" that SU! gets. You pay the full amount at time of order and get a check twice a month delivered to your door.

The shipping is actually 10% (or $4.05 - whichever is higher) unless you live in outside the continental US - like AK, HI, US territories or military bases.

Hope this helps - if you need more info just holler!

TAC's shipping is only 10% or Minumun of $4.05.
If you live in Hawaii, Alaska, Guam, Puerto Rico, or APOs & FPO's your shipping would be 15%

TAC does not have instant income.
You send in the full amount for the Customer Direct Order or Workshop order. And TAC will send you a Commission check twice a month.

They pay your sales Tax also.

Perfect Start Program is only if you want to do this. I did not do the Perfect Start Program.
Only because I couldn't ....Long story. I fell and shattered my right wrist two months after I joined. I could not drive for 6 months.
It was also a Work Comp case... From my Part time job that I had at the time.

Our commission is 25% on any retail sale.

As a Demo you will also be able to purchase stamps and supplies at 30% off.

I also wanted to add. If you live where there are not a lot of people, or you don't know alot of people.

Try joining a online group. Get to know people this way.

I belong to a few stamping groups. and I have customer from these groups.
School's if you have children in them,
Next door neighbors...If you have them.
People at the banks....
Some libraries will let you post your fliers on their bullentin board.

Thanks for the info - better shipping price than what I was understanding! So, the 30% is for a demonstrator-only order, correct? and that is discounted at the time of purchase ?

I think I understand the 25% commission part - that makes sense.

Here's another clarifying question
I've seen the minimum as
$100 per quarter
and $100 every 4 months

but a quarter is 3 months. Is TAC on a quarterly or trimesterly system?
Is it $100 every 4 months (a trimester) for a total of $300 a year
or
$100 ever 3 months (a quarter) for a total of $400 a year?

Thanks so much.
