Default Is there hope???

I feel like I am in a slump and everything I do sucks big time! As you might have already known that I have almost everything and always buy whatever is hot and newest out there according to my other threads. Why can't I be so good at card making! grrrrr I love making cards but lately I just stare at my massive stamp collection and assortment of embellies.

I don't know if this is what's happening to you, but sometimes I get overwhelmed by all the stuff I have. Kind of a "where do I start" type of thing. I have found if I just pull out a stamp set (without thinking about it too hard) and move into another room I can usually get something started. Not always, sometimes I end up with "blech" and it goes into the scrap pile. Don't know if that helps

Jestermann - Did you start sucking after July 16th?(the date of your last post) I looked in your gallery and your cards are awesome! I sort of get in slumps too until something happens and all of the sudden I need to make a card for certain situation and it gets me going again. I really do like your cards! Hang in there! It will pass......

Oh my gosh...33 ink pads!?!? WoW!!!!

Michele....I know what you mean about being overwhelmed. I don't even have that much stuff!

You know....it's been this way since I got my new stamp table/storage. Maybe the table is infused with the dark side of the force and it is sucking all of my creativity out....and using it for evil!

Maybe that' a bit to far.

I agree with nox1. Just take a set and challenge yourself. Also, sometimes I buy cheapy Wal-mart paper collectins to use so I won;t have to think too much about color combos.

Ugh, I HATE the dark side of the force! LOL. I think it has kept me from being the stamper I feel I should be. Since you got a new stamp table and storage is everything put away all nice and neatly? Maybe that's what is sucking your creativity out? I say take a set out and just play with it and see what happens....defy the dark side.

Yeah I have it all organized in these cool clear bins (think clear crates....cd case sized...holds about 20 cd cases) and I have them all out all over the tabletop. Maybe tonight I ccan get something out.

I've been through that so many times that I've lost track! I've learned not to stress about it too much...the "muse" always returns! Sometimes it's a new stamp set that gets me going, other times it's new designer paper, or working on one of the posted challenges, or just the print on a piece of clothing! Just hang in there!

Happy Heart is right - it'll come back! Just play around, do one of the challenges, CASE something... remember, it's supposed to be fun!

I hope it comes back. I've been in the same place for quite a while now. I recently joined a card group at the local scrapbook store with the hopes that it will push me pack towards the creative side of the force.

Michelle (nox1) has pointed out how I feel a lot. I sit down to try & make something and then don't know where to start. I have so much to choose from.

Default I think it is natural....

I think it is natural to be a bit overwhelmed once you acquire so much stuff. When you only have a few stamp sets your choices are much more limited. I have about 35 sets now and have some I haven't even used yet (uh-oh!).

I would suggest pulling out a favorite or a new set, and looking in the gallery for some things to case. Remember, you don't have to use all of your stuff all of the time. I think it would be impossible. I go through phases of liking a particular stamp set or a particular color combo and just focus on that. I also find it easier when I am not making a card for a specific occasion (too much pressure).

Why don't you take part in tomorrows tail-gate party? That should give you a "jump-start" into creating a few things.

I check the challenges every day. I've said so many times that I love the Sketch challenge. You can really take off from there. I posted my first card and felt it needed something. Sooo, today I whipped out the mat pack and put some faux stiching on the card. Did the trick. Sometimes it might help to find a card in the gallery and CASE it. Put a little bit of you into it.
