I am really getting frustrated with Pinterest. Anyone with me? I love it for finding MY interests but when I open my Pinterest page and see tons of pictures of kittens when I have never pinned, much less visited a site with pictures of kittens, I go ballistic. I checked my preferences and have made sure that the NO buttons are all checked. I clicked on one of the pictures of kittens and it took me to a site, and I was actually following that person! Huh? I clicked UNFOLLOW and went back to my page. I did this with all the pictures of kittens. Why do I have to do this? Can anyone help me?
At some point you followed that person, and perhaps even clicked "follow all" - which means you'd automatically follow each board they ever created. You only see pins in your feed from people you're following, so you'll have to unfollow each person who pins things you don't want to see. (Although I can't imagine not wanting to see kittens )
You don't see your own pins in that home feed - just the pins of people you're following. You'll have to click on your profile to see what you've pinned.
Like Lydia said, make sure you're not following boards from friends that are pinning those types of things. You can "unfollow all" and then just select the ones you want to see- for me that's anything crafty or food related.
Thanks so much, Lydia. I cannot imagine that I clicked on a follow all button, knowing that I would get inundated with kitten pictures (although they are kinda cute). I have specific reasons I want to use Pinterest (to PIN my INTERESTS, duh!), so when I get pictures of how to apply eye shadow on my page, I get frustrated. I am sure I clicked on something that made this happen, and I seem to be undoing it, but it makes me unsure of ever pinning again. I am wondering if there is a way to follow just one board of a person? I tried it, and only clicked FOLLOW on that person's card board and got everything they ever pinned in all categoriesugh! Maybe that's where the kittens came in. I am also getting recipes that when I click on that person's siteI am not following it. How come I am getting those recipes on my page? Thanks for all your help. I am a total newbie at Pinterest and for a while I was loving it. Any help is appreciated.
It is easy to unfollow certain boards. Under the pinners name of the "pin" is the name of the board. Click on this board. Then you will be brought to that specific board. There is an unfollow button, just click that button. You don't have to go searching for tons of boards from the people you are following. When a new pin pops up, just click on the name of the board right under name of pinner and delete that way.
Hope that helps.

a few weeks ago I was getting a ton of porn! I kept reporting to Pinterest to no avail. My dd said to change my password and now it is ok. Who knew people posted porn on Pinterest ?
People will post anything. Also it can be done by malicious people who just want to ruin what is enjoyable to others. Always worth changing your password on a regular basis as there are people who spend their whole day trying to break into other peoples accounts, most times just to show they can, then they will post things that they know will upset people.
I think pinterest assigns boards to you based on your interests. There are many people that I know I have not followed that show up in my feed.
Those pins show as "This may interest you". You can thumbs up or thumbs down vote on those pins. If you get too many of those pins, just contact pintrest and complain about them. If you complain enough, those pins will be removed from your fed.

I'm picturing Delores Umbridge's office in the Harry Potter movies with all the kittens on the walls, lol.

I never "follow all"...well, maybe my daughter and daughters-in-law.
It's best just to pick the boards you want to follow.

Kittens make you go ballistic? You're getting all that content because you've chosen to follow people. When you do that the things they pin show up on your front page. Just stop following people and unfollow the ones you already do and it should solve your problem-but Pinterest may fill your front page with suggested people to follow. If those suggestions bother you, instead of going ballistic, just ignore it all and click through to your page, and enjoy pinning!
