Default Stamping on walls

I have moved into my new scrap room. I want to paint the walls yellow and then want to stamp on the wall. Darker yellow flowers, now how do I go about it. Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated.

I stamped both of my childrens rooms....(i am fairly anal) we measured out approximate spots on the wall so that we knew basically where we wanted to stamp. I used foam brushed to apply paint to the stamps (you can make a paint "inkpad" but i found that the paint worked best for me with the foam brush. we used paint from home improvement store b/c i was also painting some furniture and accents for in the room and needed large amounts of paint...but i helped my girlfriend stamp her room and we just used acrylic paints...just depends how much paint you want to use for other purposes in the room and how much you want to spend....if you don't need much, the acrylics are cheap.....

good luck...hope that helps some.

Default Thanks

Thank you so much for the info, that helps me out alot. I was having a hard time trying to figure out how to ink the stamp, but using a foam brush makes alot of sense. Thanks....

Default question about the paint...

will the paint (acrylic) come off of the stamps easily?

I painted my stamp room & my son's room using acrylic paint and I just used an old toothbrush and scrubbed away each time I needed to clean the stamp. I also put masking tape on the wood part, but after it getting wet so many times, it fell off. I didn't care if my stamp had "paint" on it, it looked "loved."

Good luck! It is fun!

Default Update

Thanks for all the suggestions. Well I have spent the last 15 hours trying to remove the old border, so that I can start painting. I bought the paint. I'm painting the walls tangy lemon then sponging a light yellow over this. Then a deep yellow flower stamp with a pale green stem and leaf. It looks like I will be at it awhile longer. I'm finally done stripping now I have to re-prime where I had the old border, fill some holes then I can start painting. It's never as fast as you want it to be. As far as the paint, I'm using regular flat paint, not acrylics. Do you think this will be a problem? The nice guy at Lowe's seemed to think this way would work. But hey I walked out with $75 in paint.
He was happy!!!!!!!

I used flat paint when I stamped walls in both son and daughter rooms....it worked great....was easy to get off stamps and was easy to color coordinate with other items in the room....only real benefit i see with acrylics is that they are cheaper and you don't have as much left over to store....

again, good luck....it sounds great....i love yellows!!!
