SU! Retirement List

(Originally by dawn1213)---
And I don't think they are retiring any more stamp sets until next summer. Even if they are not in the Spring catalog, you should still be able to order them. They go on a "dormant list," but are still available for purchase.
This was posted on another thread and I thought it might be worth clarifying. This is a frequent statment, even on the demo side, but SU! has told us that we WILL have a Retirement List in December, of items from the Fall/Winter collection. Also, we do know that ALL of the hostess sets will retire at the end of December to be replaced with new in the Spring/Summer Collection.

SO, if there is something that you *do* like in the Fall/Winter Collection catalog, plan to get it from your demo or watch for it on the Retirement List. Some things will go on the "Dormant List", but not the entire catalog, for sure.

Just a public service announcement, please don't throw Tupperware!

Misermom 08-30-2007 12:22 PM

Bump.

AZMom 08-30-2007 12:25 PM

Does the entire Dormant List retire, or will some of it make it back into the January catalog?

SpecialK Stamper 08-30-2007 12:29 PM

Tupperware is not a rip off!

"please don't throw Tupperware!"

What is up with the Tupperware comment?

I mean who in the WORLD has anything against Tupperware?

Sheesh.

Yeah, there are people who think that Tupperware sucks.
But that is just ONE opinion amongst the millions of us who think that Tupperware is such a great product for a REASONABLE price.

Yes, the styles have changed.
And they used to charge less because we had to cut out our own lids.
But now they do the work for us and the price went up an eensy bit.

So don't bake a cake in your rubber boots and blame me!
The frosting is still tasty.
Shoot. The LLamas like it!

Out!

I wanted to quote your entire comment but decided against it. It gave me a good laugh. My mom has a golden yellow tupperware bowl from the 70's that my dog ate and I had to replace. But it is the best popcorn bowl on the planet.

Back to original topic.

I hope they give us good notice of the retiring items. :/ I don't want a ton of more stuff but it's going to be a pain if I have to order a ton of my must have's at once.

According to SU! the items on the dormant list MAY or MAY NOT be in the next catalog, so I would get anything on the list before January 1, 2008 if you really want it since we may not know if these sets make it.

That's what I was afraid of! I think I am going to sign up as a demo during their Family promo, but don't want to get stuff that is going to retire before I can demo it!

I thought I heard that Crab & Co would be in the January catalog. Do you know how much that set is?

Misermom 08-30-2007 01:40 PM

AZMom,
Crab & Co. is $27.95. I do believe that one is going to be in the catty, per what they told us earlier. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Items in the Demo Kit (the SU! choices) have historically not retired. IF they are going to retire things in the kit, then they change over the demo kit first, then retire the things. So, if they put out a new demo kit listing in Jan., then I would expect those sets that they took off of the kit to retire at the end of June. Comprende?

If you choose your own items for the demo kit, then you take the same risk as any of us demos who are purchasing things today, ya' know? We never KNOW if something is going to retire or not. It's a gamble. But, at least you'd have fun with your stamps for at least 4 months before that happened! I'd say "go for it!" the ink pads are a GOOD DEAL!

AZMom 08-30-2007 01:46 PM

Super! I thought I had my list ready to go... but now I'm going to have to look over that dormant list. Suppose I could just add them to my first big order though too.

Gracias!:)

ClaudiafromGermany 08-30-2007 01:57 PM

wow... this message changes my complete order i have ready to sent to my demo tomorrow....
i guess i have tweak things arround again :-)

ClaudiafromGermany 08-30-2007 01:59 PM

i bet they are going to retiere a lot of the old sets.. cause they dont really fit into the new pricing sheme anymore.
i would say... booglie eyes is going to be retiered
anybody else guessing?

ClaudiafromGermany 08-30-2007 02:00 PM

snowflake spot too...still guessing :-)

StampinOma 08-30-2007 02:27 PM

Question. The hostess sets are being retired and won't become part of the regular catalog. Right? What about sets in the minis? Do they automatically retire after the mini expires or is it still to be seen if they show up in the regular catalog?

ClaudiafromGermany 08-30-2007 02:29 PM

good question stampinoma

Misermom 08-30-2007 02:32 PM

Yes, hostess sets are out of here and no, they don't put them in the catalog anymore. That has its good points and bad points.

Mini catalog sets are now "in limbo" from one year from the date of their release. SO, the Holiday 2007 Mini starts Sept. 1 - those sets MAY make it into the Jan. catty, or MAY make it into the July catty, we don't know. Demos cannot sell their holiday mini sets until next Sept. 1, 2008, if they don't make the catalogs.

zipperc98 08-30-2007 02:54 PM

They are really replacing the hostess sets in January? Wow, you would think they would at least keep those sets around for a year, it seems pointless to even keep any of them for myself being a demo, since I wont be able to use them for classes or anything. Ah well. Then again, I dont really "Love" any of the hostess sets, so it will be cool to see some new ones.

I hope they keep most of the sets from the mini and put them into the next catty...

ClaudiafromGermany 08-30-2007 02:57 PM

i agree on the hostess sets.
iam probably in the position to get a level 3 and i hate them all! and from the level 2 i have already the two i like.

Misermom 08-30-2007 03:01 PM

I always steer my customers to the Simply Scrappin' kits if they are out of hostess stamp sets that they like or whatever. The hostess SS kits have FREE cardstock in them - and they are 12x12 textured and double-sided patterned! Also, the self-adhesive die cuts are AWESOME not only for scrappin', but also for quick & fun card-making.

Cynamom 08-30-2007 03:37 PM

This has got to be great for SU. Two retirements!
