Default New fabric cover album's question

Hello everyone I want to ask a few questions and see who can answer me, 1. can you use the tacky tape and design something to heat emboss in the cover of these albums? I order one but they have no markings in the cover and kind of difficult to tell from the front and the back so i thought of doing the heat emboss, or maybe some beads ot metal tag... help!!!!! the cover is navy blue. By the way, I love those, kind of pricey but I have a scrapbook class coming and figured is the best way to sell them, by showing. 2. Where do you get the mat board cheap? I leave in a small town and the Wal-Mart clerk didn't have a clue of what I was talking about , so she offer me a bunch of cardboard boxes, can I use them for the covers of sticky note holders, note pads or any other project?
I don't want to drive 50 miles to get them  I know that you are all a very resourcefull bunch of ladies so some help in this area will be helpful
