Default SU! Metallic Art Pencils...

I am looking at getting the Stampin' Up Metallic Art Pencils... Are they worth it? or is there another product out there that would work as well but for less??

The Metallic pencils are very soft art pencils. They have a very subtle shine. I love using them with Gamsol because they blend wonderfully. I really don't know of another product out there like them, but I haven't been to an art store in a while. I think they're worth the money.

Oh, and I AM an SU! demo, so I might be a little biased!

I don't use them a whole lot, but I do love the beautiful shimmer they give on dark cardstocks. Here are some bookmarks I made, coloring embossed floral images. You can also do a nice resist effect, similar to crayons. I don't have any samples of that, though. So I guess I'm saying that I'd invest in the watercolor crayons and pastels first as a my primary coloring tools, but then possibly pick up the metallic pencils. HTH!

I used the metallic pencils in a ws and all my customers loved them....the card I demo'd was using the pencil over technique and the results were amazing....you won't be disappointed if you buy them....HTH

I really love my metalic pencil crayons, I love the look they give. I've been trying to get some new ideas of how to use my metallic pencil crayons. I was wondering what the pencil over technique is.

Thanks,
Hailey

I just sent a note to Beate asking if she would do a tutorial using the metallic pencils--so hope we can learn more soon. They are beautiful...

Here's a card I pretty much cased from a magazine, but it used the metallic pencils, and I think they have such a neat shimmer on the dark cardstock.

I think they are worth getting to have a different, unique look!

I love the metallic pencils on darker papers. Sometimes I use them to sign cards on darker CS too.
