Whoo Hoo! The man in the brown truck came to my house today and brought the ornament stamps, the dies that coordinate with them. I'm going to make that ornament, and a bunch of other things: present toppers, cards, tags:O

Plus, I got two other stamp sets, the in color card stocks, and ink pads and a bunch of other colors of cs. Ohhh and I got the new stampin' scrub too. I've already put away all the cardstock in hanging folders and labeled them. Then I punched out a piece of all of the colors and put them on my sample ring. I conditioned my new stamps and put them together, then tried out all my ink pads and stamps. They are such pretty colors! I'm so excited I can't hardly stand it!!

I didn't get the tulle ribbon though, cause I spent my budget. I have some regular tulle left from Christmas last year. I'll try that and see how it works.

ooooo, I want to come play at your house! bwhahahahahaha

gotthebug818 08-09-2012 06:03 PM

That ornament is gorgeous! I sadly don't have the bigshot, and I don't plan on getting one, so I can't make that beautiful thing. :(

I wondered how long it took to make that. Yeah, cutting out 40 dies would take a long time. I ordered that stamp set too. It was already on my list. :)

Yeah, I won't be making tons of them but I will make a few. One or two for me,4-5 for friends and a couple for our display board at the craft show.

I figured out something! When you are diecutting several shapes for an ornament, it helps to save time if you run more than one shape through the Big Shot at once.

Look on one of my Pinterest Boards: Stampin' Up Holiday Catalog 8/12/2012-1/2013

I see three different ornaments on there that I'd like to make. So I stamped and ran the 3 different shapes through the BS together. The lady on the video said it took here 45 ish minutes I think... well, I have everything stamped and big shotted for three different ornaments in that amount of time. Does that make sense???

Tomorrow after stamp club, I'll put them together:)

muscrat 08-10-2012 04:28 PM

Yes, I understand what you are saying. Why cut only one thing when you can run several different shapes through at the same time.

You could stamp the shape and cut them out with scissors. You'd probably want to spread the cutting part over a few days, but it could be done. Not that I'd have the patience for it myself, but . . .

I figured it would cost me over $75 to get the extra goods to make one of these. So I'm passing, but I still enjoy watching the videos. And I have to think about what's safe around our cat and our 2 granddaughters when it comes to holiday decorations. They're worth it!

I ordered the ornament bundle today. I'll be ordering the tulle at the next workshop I go too......hopefully next month.

15 years ago, I made 108 paper ornaments.....for party favors. Each ornament used 3 stamped images that I embossed and cut out by hand. I did it over several days. OYE!

Skip the stamping?

Thanks for posting the link to the ornament!

I am curious, does anyone have any thoughts as to whether or not this would look pretty without doing the stamping step and just using designer paper?? That way you could run the die through the machine with multiple layers and cut much faster. I love this look, but would want to have more than one on my tree, and if they take an hour to make, well.....let's just say, I am trying to figure out some MAJOR shortcuts! :-)

Wow are we on the same channel or what! This Saturday, I got together with the two friends who are doing craft shows with me. We were talking about the ornament dies and decided to get together and make them in an assembly line. Then my friend, Deborah, got the idea to cut out the ornaments from dsp!!
