I'm sure this has been discussed, but I've done a search and can't find it, so I'll ask anyway!
How do you use the stamp-a-ma-jig? I couple of my customers just bought it with the intent of using it with their alphabets, but we just can't figure out how it's done! The directions that come with it make sense when you're stamping a single image, but what about words you want to spell out with your alpha stamps?
Can anyone help me out? I'd love to be a "hero" to my customers by showing them how to do this!
Hmmm...basically you use it with alphabets just as you would stamping a single image...you can't stamp an entire word on the plastic overlay thingie...you must stamp one letter at a time.
What I usually do to determine placement of words (so they can be centered, which is probably what you are going for) is to stamp the word or phrase on my grid paper, then determine where to start. I almost always start in the center of a word or phrase and stamp out to the right and left. The Stampamajig would help to line them up perfectly if you were doing this, but frankly, I like the uneven somewhat random quality you get from NOT stamping in a line, so I never use the Stampamajig with alphabet sets.
If you're asking for step by step, here's my attempt at explanation
Let's say you want to stamp "friend."
Stamp the "F" on the paper
Stamp the "R" on the acrylic sheet as it's nestled in the corner of the stamp a ma jig
Take the acrylic sheet and put it so the "R" shows exacly where you want it on the page.
Without moving it place the stamp a ma jig around the acrylic sheet and then remove the sheet.
Stamp the "R"
Repeat for "IEND"
LOL, if you didn't need such a detailed explanation, I'm sorry, I'll go back to drinking my coffee....couldn't really tell if you knew how to use it or not!
Cut vellum cardstock into 1/4 sheets.
Use these sheets in place of the reusable sheet.
Stamp a different letter in each corner of the vellum sheets. Keep these sheets with the alphabet set. They become a permanent, placement guide for your Stamp-a-ma-jig. This is a hugh timesaver for the alphabet sets you use a lot.

WOW - love that last tip. After 2 years believing I would never need this tool, I have suddenly fallen in love with it. I have tons of alphabet sets and this is a great idea!!
I LOVE my stamp-a-ma-jig (except for typing its name!). I have tendonitis/carpel tunnel so it's a big help. Sometimes I use just the purple part to keep from wobbling - especially with those tiny word stamps or the small stamps like in Border Builders.
Wow! That is a great tip and time saver!!!! One of the reasons I neglect to use mine so much is because it is so time consuming when stamping a long word, phrase, or title. The thought of wiping off each letter and putting a new one just seems like too much trouble, then I end up stamping it freestyle and sometimes its anybody's guess if it turns out looking ok. Now I have to see what vellum scraps I can spare!
I use window sheets instead of vellum, they last longer, and are clearer.
