SU demonstrator etiquette question
 

My SU demonstrator happens to be one of my best friends ever... but, very sadly, she also happens to live over a thousand miles away from me. I order through her Web site when I need SU gear, but as you can imagine, it's hard for me to make it to any of her events.

I looked on the SU demo finder site and found a demo who lives near me and seems to be very active with stamp camps, stamp-a-stacks, clubs and other goings-on. I really miss getting together with other people to stamp.

So my question is... if you were demo #2, would you mind if I came to your events pretty much just to stamp, not usually to order? I would probably buy something every once in a while, and I would probably only come to for-pay events so I wouldn't feel like I was unfairly taking your supplies, and I would let you know that someone else my "main-squeeze" demo... would that work for you?

If you're paying the fee for the class, camp, stamp a stack, etc, then any demo should be fine with it. And an occasional order is just a bonus!

I see nothing wrong with this, and I expect most any demo would warmly welcome you to her events. I would suggest being open and honest about the situation with the new demo. Happy stamping! :)

As a demo, that would be fine with me. My classes are priced that I do not expect orders from class participants. I have a few ladies who come to my classes that have regular demos that they order from, but that demo does not offer monthly classes. Just be honest with both demos.
Each demo runs their business differently, so just check with what the demo close to you expects from her class participants.

I agree, if you are paying for the class or in a club and place small orders then it's still $$ in their pocket :)

I'm with all the other previous posters -- it's okay if you don't order at paid events, since that fee is intended to recoup my costs for materials and the time spent prepping everything. The only thing that would really tick me off is if you came to "free" events all the time but only ever ordered from the other demo who lives out-of-state. That's just not cool.

That said, if you're a regular with this local demo, it would be nice if you did place an occasional order with her. Maybe once a quarter, or a couple of times a year. That's only polite, IMO. :)

Thanks, everyone--I e-mailed the demo and it looks like she's an SCS member, so maybe she'll even read this thread. :) I'm really looking forward to stamping in company again!

I agree as a demo that would be perfectly fine with me; in that you just want to come to the classes and such to have enjoy the stamping time with friends; just be honest in that you would only order occasionally because of your best friend.

I just heard back from the demo, and it sounds like I'd be very welcome. Of course I told her right away that I do have another demo; doesn't sound like that will be a problem. Yay! Stamping with other people!

Molly, I have to tell you about my late SIL. She was SO into stamping (actually I was the one who got her going in it, lol!) and wanted to buy from me...her SIL/SU demo. Me? I wanted her to go out and have fun, take classes, get hands on experience. She lived in New York, I'm in Washington State. Not much opportunity for get togethers, lol. So I found her a demo and encouraged her to go to her classes AND make purchases from her as well.

I would think, as your friend, your current demo will be thrilled that you are finding ways to get out and use your stuff...
