Just got an email from a demo who said all demos were notified that the site would be down tomorrow to load the catalog! Why couldn't they get their act together and do it today. Arghhhhh! When I could not get the catty today, I cancelled a brunch date to stay home and look at it in the AM.
I'm hoping this is just so the site doesn't get flooded with people looking at the new catty. It's going to happen anyway. Why they had to go and change it back to the 1st, I have NO clue. You'd think since that was the original plan, they'd have their **** together and get it up ASAP. UGH, my demo hasn't even gotten her catties that she PRE-ORDERED 3 weeks ago! Another Grrr.
No one told this demo that and I certainly hope its not true because I have a customer who is out of town on vacation, so I've not been able to get a catalog to her. She is planning on browsing the online catalog in the morning so she can call me with her order before I plug in my order when ordering opens (2PM my time) I'm going to be really annoyed if she can't see it tomorrow morning!

No catalogs here either and what with Tuesday being the 4th I don't even expect to see anything until late in the week. I am so frustrated by their lack of organization. It will be online early--no it won't--it will be online for demos early--no it won't--you will have your catty's by June 28-29---no guess not.
It's all news to me. I wonder if the catalog hosting site just informed SU that they needed to shut down the catalog access to switch it over. (SU has another company do their online catalog.)

If they took the site down today, then how would people place last-minute orders from the current catty? ;)
I'll bet the transition time is scheduled for the time period between when ordering shuts down tonight for the 2005-06 catty and when OEX opens tomorrow afternoon.

Annabelle, there was a note in that announcement about new catty mailings that arrival dates were not guaranteed.

It doesn't matter when your demo pre-orders, they don't ship them til late June. I pre-ordered mine in May. Got the box Wednesday.
Come on, guys, let's lighten up. I know those who don't have a catty yet are hurtin.
Here's the info about what's going on, from the website:
Starting July 1, 2006, OEX will be unavailable from 12:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon). You will be unable to place any type of order during this time.
That announcement is dated June 8th.
OEX is our ORDERING system. Not the whole website, just the ordering.
We will open Demonstrator Support on Saturday, July 1 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM to provide assistance with the transition to the new Idea Book & Catalog and new Stampin' Up! year.
The office is closed on the 4th, but demos can place orders thru OEX.
So, they said the catalog will be online, on July 1. They didn't say midnight or noon or whatever, but I expect it to be up sometime in the next 24 hours.
There is mail on Monday, so some people may get their comp catties then.

I haven't gotten my new catty yet either. I just came from stalking the website. They are 1 hour behind me, and I thought there may be some feature allowing the catty to be live at 12:01. I know I'll have the catty to drool over for a year, but I've been stalking my mailman anyway, and dammit I just can't wait any longer!

These are the kinds of negative nellie posts that get people all excited unnecessarily.
Annabelle, you were posting in the SU! conspiracy thread, too. Also unhappy there. I'm sorry, can I send you some chocolate??
Please, feel free to ask stuff pleasantly, we'll be very happy to help. Nobody is keeping any secrets here.
I'd bet money the catalog has been loaded and all they need to do is activate the link. As I said in my previous post, your OP is confused, the site is not closed, etc. etc. etc. I hope it's activated in time for you to not regret postponing your brunch!
I'll be up late - on the west coast helps - so I'll definitely peek to see if it's up! I'm sure there will be someone shouting the news when it goes live.

Yikes! I had a Cherry Vanilla Coke with my late supper to help me stay up long enough to browse the catty online, and now that may not happen. Oh well, maybe I will get a card made.
I did not make up any unpleasantness. If I cannot trust my demo, well then what can I say. We will see what happens. I would be more than thrilled if she is wrong. Why would she make up such a thing? If she is misunderstanding, I don't find anything sinister in that. Yes, it DOES make me unhappy if I cancelled a brunch for nothing.
As to catalogs being guaranteed, I never said a word about anything being guaranteed. I just wish they worked a bit harder to make things available to ALL on the dates they ANNOUNCE and not keep switching their minds back and forth. There is no reason they could not ship catalogs a week earlier than they do to keep customers happy. I wonder why they wait until the last minute when year after year people don't get them on time and are upset. A little more planning on their part would create delight. Imagine expecting your catalog on July 1 and gettiing it on June 20!! If I were running the company I would want to pleasantly surprise people. Last year our catalogs here did not arrive until after July 8. Sooooo, they end up with very unhappy people. You would think they would learn and plan for this. Not sure why they do not. Just makes common sense to me.
In any event, I did not post a thread to be negative, I posted it purely out of DISAPPOINTMENT based on what an SU demo told me. I figured others might want to plan ahead. I know of one SU slumber party with 18 women in a very rural area who are sitting at their computers with hot fudge sundaes in hand, all waiting for the stroke of midnight. I pray SU does not disappoint them!
Check out the thread on Announcements. I guess there are lots of "negative nellies" who also have clueless demos passing on negative information just to stir up trouble instead of "asking politely". I am miffed that my motives are called into question RATHER than the source of the information which seems to be the company itself.
Sorry, I only eat chocolate for the antioxidants, so only dark chocolate for me! (I'm VERY concerned about my health, so regularly indulg- er, I mean, intake some antioxidants! )
I"m still refreshing my screen for the online catties lots, which probably isn't helping matters.
LOL Do you need chocolate too? I've got a bag of Ghirardelli milk chocolate squares here.... but they are going fast!
Yeah, it would probably help my urges to tell some people to find something of substance to be irritated about. Of course, this is coming from someone who is chairbound due to a miscarriage 2 weeks ago. I guess my focus right now is a bit more on real life matters and not on my stamping hobby. Yeah, I'd like a catty to browse while I'm sitting here but I'm thankful that I'm not the lady beside me in the doctor's office today who is pregnant and has just found out she has cancer. Now that's something to be irritated about!
I love Ghirardelli, but for some reason my thighs seem to hang on to it when I eat just one (um, just one bag, that is;) !)
Okie, was that awesome zoom in feature *always* there and it was just me who was the idiot squinting at last year's catty online? And btw I like Riveting.
I do not remember that there was a zoom or larger view last year. I like several items, but after clicking through ninety some pages, I'm too sleepy to recall which ones.
You and me both! My neck hurts, I already wiped my eyes out sorting several hundred microscope pix this afternoon (towards the end I got lazy and instead of sorting the sort folders just put them into one big sort folder ;) ). I have added three stamp sets to my wishlist, but two are 'old' sets.
