Take the darn foam off and just use the rubber with TIOAO or double sided tape and they are just fine!

I have all of my SU sets unmounted...Easy to use!

Don't clean them. ;) Just pretend you're Tim Holtz! He never cleans his rubber stamps.

I find they fall off less if I twist instead of rub back and forth. Usually only small ones fall off when I go to the dry side.

Um, not happening. That's a total waste of time! And, those are steps I've never needed for any other brand.

My demo didn't seem to think there was an issue with the stamps when the sticker was on. It doesn't seem to bother her that they don't even stick to the DVD case and rattle around in there. Seems to me that over time that could damage the stamp, especially since you're not supposed to store your rubber stamps rubber side down. If you store the cases on their sides, chances are you're rubber side down when they fall off of the sides.

BTW, the stamps stick even better if you put the sticker on and then take it off. I discovered that after my stamp fell off the block a couple of times...
SEE, now this is the the strange thing....mine seem to stick the to the cases just fine! Every now and then I'll notice that one (usually a tiny one) is rattling around in there but I just have not had these problems! So strange! I wonder if it has to do with the climate you live in or the humidity of your house or something...I know with winter things have been EXTRA clingy here (my laundry...my hair....static! Get what I mean?, lol). Makes ya go "hmmmm".

Oh, and I also found that I'm pretty sure I scrub my MOUNTED sets WWWWAAAYYYY more hard than I need too, poor things! haha And I wondered why a few had separated right from the rubber?

I have had to adjust to a light touch for cleaning the cling stamps but honestly they get just as clean, maybe even cleaner because I think I rub with my mounted ones so hard that the gunk gets into the deeply etched parts, kwim? Sometimes they do fall off but I've really gotten a lighter hand and I think I'm kinder to my mounted stamps now....I think they are thanking me for it, hahaha:-)

I live the cling idea !
However, I agree with Minders that SU really needs to print the images on the cling side. The larger images are easy to recognize without the sticker, but some of the sets with tiny accessory stamps or sentiment stamps will be very challenging.

Love the new SU clearmount stamps! I don't use the sticker and have never had a problem even when cleaning. I wipe my stamps clean with a baby wipe.

Yeah, that would be great!! It's all new for them at this point. Frankly, I think the stickers are completely unnecessary. We all got used using stamps with an image 'cause you can see through wood. IMHO, we really don't need images to stamp well, we just think we do.

Yes, I think I do, therefore I DO, hahaha. I really prefer an image when I'm stamping.

I'll send an email to DS about the printing on the cling and all the issues everyone's been having!

*groan* I know i know... but with umounted stamps you kinda have to... even taking the dirty ones off the block makes you fingers inky... so this only works if you only stamp in black...

I'm in Dallas and it's pretty arid here, especially in the Winter. However, it's moist enough that cards made with Snail fall apart here even in the Winter, so we must still have more moisture than Utah. So, I'm guessing that humidity could have something to do with the stamp sticking issue. Anyone from Florida, East Texas, Louisiana, or coastal Alabama, Georgia, or Mississippi care to wage in on that? We tend to have warmer Winters in the South (though this Winter gave us record snowfalls), so you can't really fairly compare us to the North on Winter weather.

You have to be one with your inkiness...

I actually often clean them on my jeans. Unless it's craft ink. Then I tend to go to the sink as it gunks up my stamp cleaner (when I use it). I wear very dark jeans. The Stazon stains tend to either come our or not show after I wash them too.

I find it easier to take the unmounted stamps off of the block before cleaning. Otherwise, they often take themselves off of the block for me...

I've not had any issue with them sticking to my blocks and I do have the stickers on. The only time I might have one slip if it's tiny.

I too had that problem, I take the rubber off the Acrylic block and rub the stamp on the scrubber. Or I use a Rag to clean them off. (with Spray on cleaner).

I wish I had a better answer for you. But I don't. Sorry:(

While it may confuse some people, it is what they are. Our stamps are mounted on clear blocks. I do dislike when people refer to them as "clear stamps" because obviously they are not....so they shouldn't be expected to stick or work just like clear stamps either. Personally I don't like the clear stamps. I can't get a good image with them, they seem to break down and wear out quickly and I had a couple that turned icky slimy sticky kind of, blech! I don't do well with things that feel funny:-)

I live in Salt Lake City. Although we get a lot of snow, our air is VERY dry! This does not make for easy mounting. However...

I am loving the clear mounts, and I do use them with the sticker. I quickly found I needed a little moisture to help the suction. I started with using a moist sponge, but I have found a good huff on the block and a firm 2 second press onto my mat works like a charm! I am a hard scrubbing cleaner of my stamps, and I never have them pop off while cleaning. I am a true convert to SU's clear mounts.

I have NEVER had a problem with my stamps not sticking, thankfully! But, I put them on like the above, it was just my natural way of doing so. I usually push in the center and then just push on the sides. It's like all in one move it that makes sense.

They are not like those other clear clingy things, which I don't really like, but again, I haven't had a problem. At this point in time, I will only buy unmounted rubber stamps. They are awesome!

So sorry to those of you that it doesn't seem to work.

thanks for all the reply's but they are still not sticking, or sticking to ink, but not to stamp. If SU is going to cling mount 100 percent, they have just lost a customer. I hate them

You should call your demo and make her aware of your problems if you have not already. She should be able to help you and contact SU. Maybe she can get you replacements, maybe yours are defective. Every company has defective products from time to time, I'm sure SU will try to make things right!

Definitely contact your demo. S/he may be able to do something to make this right for you. Rest assured, SU is not going 100% cling mount. There are many people who still love and prefer the wood mount, including the company owner and founder, Shelli Gardner.

Also, remember that this is something new, so maybe there are some kinks to work out as well and like someone else mentioned maybe there have been some bad batches too.

I'm also with the poster who said something along the lines of having the images printed right on the foam and not even have the sticker. Could be an option maybe?

As for me I'm drinking the clear mount kool-aid:-) I really like the space saving aspect and the cases line up so neatly being all the same size...great for OCD I tell ya!

Hope you get yours to stick better! happy stamping!
I am right there with you Minders! I am lovin' the clear mount so pour me some more kool-aid! it definitely feeds my OCD tendencies. Now if only I could get the rest of my crafting supplies to fall in line! LOL!

Thankfully, SU will continue with their wood-mounted stamps. They've said they will NOT forsake their customers who love their wood, lol.

It sounds like you've gotten lots of tips, so I won't add more. I am sorry you've had so much trouble...I haven't had any trouble with simple pressing my block down onto the stamp to get a good stick. I do tend to hold the block down for a beat or two, but I haven't had to do anything special.

I've read lots of threads on this problem also. I haven't applied the stickers and they work like a charm for me also.

I also love my wood mounts.....I won't unmount. I'm only unmounting the second part of my two part stamps.

Any new sets I get that SU offers in clear mount I'll be getting in the clear. Love the savings!!!

Considering how many people have a problem reading "clear mount" and interpreting it as "mounted on a clear block" rather than "the stamp is clear," I have to agree that the name is misleading and confusing. When I first read it I thought they were going clear as well. It's just a weird way to say it, especially if you have any experience or knowledge of clear stamps. They should have simply called them unmounted stamps, as that's what they are - not mounted on a block.

As for using clear stamps, it sounds like you're using cheap acrylic ones. That doesn't mean you got them for cheap, it just means the manufacturer used cheap materials. If you use photopolymer stamps (like the ones PTI makes), you'll have a different experience. They stamp cleanly, even with SU or other purely water based inks. Most clear stamps don't stamp as well with SU's inks, as the ink will bead up on the surface (there's not enough roughness to grab the ink, unlike on red rubber), so most stampers use hybrid inks (like Palette, Memento, or PTI's inks). I really like most hybrid inks - you get the look of craft ink with the drying time of dye ink. Sure makes for fast stamping!

They should have simply called them unmounted stamps, as that's what they are - not mounted on a block.

Thanks for the info! No more problems for me though because I've gone all SU...so unless they change to acrylic (*gasp*) I'm good:-) I just love the rubber I guess, haha. Good to know about the hybrid inks though, I do hate the drying time....now can we get glue and glitter that dry instantly (I know there is heat and stick but it's not always the best choice for all projects)...or crystal effects....I'm the queen of smearing drying things...or getting projects stuck together, lol!

LOL. I completely understand the love of rubber. I never thought I'd get rid of my wood and yet I'm now about to unmount all of my wood mounted stamps. I'm tired of hauling the wood around and storing it!

There is a glue that dries really quickly - Zip Dry. It's not the best for glitter, so I can't help you there. I wish I had a good fast drying glitter glue! But, Zip Dry is awesome. It does smell, just to warn you. Like a nail salon where they do acrylic nails. I've gotten used to it though. However, the really nice thing about this glue is that if you get some where you don't want it, you just wait for it to dry (takes 5-10 minutes to fully dry) and then rub it off. It seems to need to bond to two sides of things (i.e. paper on top of paper) to stay stuck. I get mine at Hobby Lobby. It's a clear glue that comes in a clear bottle with a blue label. It costs $5.99, I think, regular price.

Hmmm, I'll have to check it out. I'm sure I'd find some way to screw it up though, I'm glue challenged or something, haha. Brave girl, unmounting all your wood mounted stamps! I have over 100 (well over, that's why I stopped counting, lol) and can't imagine ever doing that. Just not my style so I'll just keep what I have mounted and now I'm buying SU unmounted whenever I can.

Maybe they didn't want to call them unmounted since really ALL of their stamps come unmounted??? Just a theory but I too agree that the names are misleading and really there are just too many terms out there anyway:-) Good luck with the unmouting, I'd end up in a pile of wood and rubber rocking back and forth if I tried I think!:p

I'm kinda leery about unmounting my wooden stamps but I have been thinking that the next time I get wood that I will try putting them on an acrylic block before mounting them to see what happens.

If you're using the regular wood mounted SU stamps for this, they'll work just like wood, meaning they'll fully adhere to your block. Removing them will be like removing them from the wood block. The foam on those has adhesive on both sides. The foam on their clear mounted stamps has adhesive on the side that adheres to the rubber and cling on the other side (so it's removable from an acrylic block). If you want to try out the clear mount stamps to see how they work for you, I suggest you ask your demo to show them to you so you can try the "real thing" out.
