Ahhh.. I think I misunderstood the first question about hostess sets... sorry. I don't recall seeing any of the 'current' hostess sets in the new catalogue. It seems to me that my sister (SU demo) said none of them would be in it.

Am interested in the demo package. What's included as the default this year? I had everything in the default demo package when I thought about becoming a hobby demo, so I thought I'd wait for the new catty.

And thank so much for all the info!

Are there any chalk ink pads in there? (since SU bought the company that makes them, can't remember the name, colorbox?)

sorry I don't see a specific list of what you get. It's says choose your own stamp sets and some accessories. The kit in Canada is $275

FYI...I read on another post...SU! did not buy colorbox...but shellie and her DH did. A technicality I am sure!

Yes there is one. There are a few new Christmas/winter sets but only one new one with a spiritual message. It has 4 stamps, Luke 2:11, a nice sentiment, a town of Bethlehem and Joseph leading Mary on a donkey. The images are simple drawings, the font quite casual. CANADIAN price is $25.95

I have a feeling I'm going to NEED the dotted one, the flannel plaid, and the fontastic - mixed up letter one. I already have the old paisley. I can't picture aida cloth. But it must be different enough from Linen, Cheesecloth, and Canvas.

Just a quick browse through the catalogue - I may miss something
Booglie Eyes - set of 8 - a bat - dracula - frankenstein - spider - witch - mummy - ghost and 'happy boo to you' these are very simple little characters$27.95 CDN

Holiday -
a little ornament set
a retro set with a santa - elves - and stockings - 4 pieces $24.95 CANADIAN
cold play from the mini
'peaceful wishes' 5 pieces $31.95 CDN - pine images and sentiment
snowflakes made up of spots (it's cute) - 7 pieces $27.95 CDN includes 2 sentiments
O Tannenbaum
City of David - see previous post for description
Festive Favorites - 6 pieces - $31.95 CDN - kind of like tags & 1 sentiment
Hebrew Holidays - 11 pieces - $34.95 CDN

AND the new tag punch - I love it - I'll try to describe it....
imagine a rectangle (horizontal) with the corners rounded - towards the inside - and a circle shape behind it that creates an arc over the top and under the bottom of the rectangle.... how confused are you?? LOL
it comes in the tin like the last one with 3 ink spots and 6 stamps. Some of the stamps could be used very nicely in scrapbooks since they don't all say something. How's that?? The price is $54.95 CDN

Demos were told way back in November that hostess sets would NEVER make the catalog again, and that policy was backdated to include the 05-06 sets. Sorry!

Current summer mini sets do not make that year's catty because of the overlap. We'll have to wait till next year to see what carries over from the current one!

I think the thread "Do you want to see what's in the catty?" (or something like that, can't remember the exact title) lists what made it from last year's summer mini, as well as the holiday, winter and spring editions.

What new masculine sets are there? We lost Noble Deer & Angler, (among others), so what replaced them?

It was posted in another thread that there were no new masculine sets -- guess folks weren't buying enough of the old ones!

None of the colored pencil sets (pure color, watercolor) actually match the SU! exclusive colors -- just the crayons.

Hi,
there are some new sets that you could use for masculine I suppose - if you got creative?!? Right now my daughter is pouring over my catalogue but off the top of my head I'm thinking about the new camping set and a wild life one. You could make them masculine. I must say I'm really glad I bought Angler last month though!

Yep! I use sets that aren't necessarily masculine all the time for making cards to send the guys in my life -- Shapes and Shadows, All Natural, Touch of Nature, Natural Beauty, Simple Sketches, and Holiday Spirit, just to name a few. It's amazing the difference just changing the color scheme can make. I even used the butterfly from S&S to make a card for a young woman I know who doesn't like "girly" stuff. There are a few examples in my (small but growing) gallery!

thank you, thank you Newtwostampin for all of this great info. I know it's pathetic, but since I cant drool over my catty yet (and I don't think my demo even ordered any yet) I come back to this post and drool over your descriptions! Thank you a million times over-your fingers must be tired of typing, but your service will never be forgotten

It has been fun! I never understood why my sister spent time on the forums - until now. It has been good to see that there are others who love this stuff too - most of my friends, although they like the homemade cards, just don't 'get it.' Hope you all get your catalogue in the next couple days, until then I'm happy to share what I now understand are called 'spoilers' with you

Any new birthday sets? It seemed like a lot had retired.

Any new vintage sets? A lot retired in that section, too.

Thanks for all the info gals!

Are the US and Canadian catalogs always identical, except for the prices? The reason I ask is that it seems to me that when they started in Australia, the catalog was very different (from what I read on here). So, I wondered if all of this information is completely accurate (not that it isn't fun to read).
I'm so glad that Mixed Bouquet made it! I'll finally get to buy it!

They are pretty much identical. There are usually a few stamps that are not in one that are in another, but that's really it. Hopefully the day will come soon when the Aussie catalog is the same!

Yes, there's retro, there's a Christmas retro, one set that looks a lot like 'pattern of friendship' in the current mini - although it has stamping sentiments. There's a neat one with a retro style TV. If you like retro I think there will be a few sets that you like.
