Question MFT: WTG?

Okay stampers, I have been out of the stamping world for almost four years... I have not purchased, looked at blogs, or spent any time with stamping related stuff in that time (life happened and I just didn't have the time or energy).

Anyway, I have always loved My Favorite Things, Who's that Girl/Guy stamps. So, as I have reacquainted myself with the stamping world in the past month, I was surprised to see that MFT does not have a WTG line of stamps anymore. Did something happen? I have tried searching through the MFT blog, but I cannot find any info. Is there another company that is offering stamps like the WTG?

Just curious if anyone knew anything.

You might want to send a message to them directly, but I would guess it was a matter of sales volume for certain styles.

Personally, I never bought much of anything from MFT until they started carrying stamps other than the headless woman/big-headed child images. Now I buy quite a bit from them...but I'm not criticizing those other type of stamps. They just weren't my thing. I assume any company would change their original style if they find something else sells better. But till you hear from MFT, my comments are mere speculation.

Have you tried the BST forum here, or eBay? MFT does retire stamps and dies regularly, so even if the older sets aren't available directly from them, someone else may have some for sale.

I don't know whether other companies have anything similar, but I imagine that MFT discontinued them to keep abreast with current trends and stay fresh without carrying a lot of inventory of older stock. They also discontinued Flopsey and Fred Bear, and similarly if you look at Stamping Bella now, you might not recognise it as the same company, the style of stamps they carry now is so different. Four years sees a lot of change in the creating universe ;-). Welcome back.

Default Changes in the Stamping World

Thanks ladies for the info. I figured it was just a matter of the change in style. I have actually picked up several sets in the B/S/T forum.

Four years has changed some things in the crafting world; some majorly (like MFT & SU) and some only slightly (like PTI). While I was disappointed to see the disappearance of some of my favorite stamp lines, I was very pleased to see that the bulk of my stamps are still "current" and "trendy".

Overall, I would say that the biggest change that I have noticed, is in the "tools" that are now available. I watched a YouTube video today that Kimberly Crawford (kudos to Kimberly-- the background was stunning) layered various inks using a mini ink blending tool. I was like what the heck is that thing? And let's not forget the MISTI. That's the tool that actually got me interested in stamping again. ;)
