Default storing cards...?

I was just wondering how everyone stores their cards...

I have been keeping my in a picture storage box on their ends but I finding that some of the fronts/matting are separating from the base cardstock. I am using Tombow adhesive, the strong stuff, but seem to still be having this problem.

Is there anyone else having this problem or maybe I should be storing my cards in a pile so that the weight of the pile keeps the CS.matting stuck together.

Sorry if this is a silly question but I am frustrated - my big plans to have a 'ready supply' of great cards is getting derailed!

thanx!

I also use the photo boxes. Some of my older cards are separating, but about a year ago I read a tip from another SCSer to burnish them well to make sure the adhesive got a good grip on the cardstock. No more problems!

Honestly I don't really care for Tombow adhesive for the very reason you listed. I think it comes apart too easily. I've had better luck with hermafix tabs.

I store my cards on end like you do. If I use my demo's mono adhesive they come apart. I use Scotch double sided tape when making my own cards and they never come apart.

Ditto what Firequeen said. I ran out of tape on time and bought double sided tape at the dollar store to get me through until I could get to the craft store. Well, that dollar store tape is wonderful! Even my crimped paper doesn't come off, and I certainly can't say that about the tombow tape!

I store mine in photo boxes from wal-mart or Michaels. Use duck tape and double sided tape at times too. Even my cards that are 10 years old are still holding perfectly..

Me too as far as the Scotch double-sided tape goes. I never use the mono adhesive anymore - I buy the Scotch DS tape in packages of 6 (I think) from Sam's Club. I store my cards on their sides in a photo box and have never had a problem with them coming apart (some of them have been in there for over a year!) Go get some Scotch tape!

I recently moved to photo boxes and sometimes I have the issue of them coming apart. I also started using the SU glue sticks and so far no issue. I have also stored them opened in hanging files by occasion and that worked fairly well. I just needed the hanging file box to store the new cardstock, so the cards had to go somewhere else.

I too store mine is Photo boxes. I use to have a problem with the tape coming undone. But I try a new trick that a friend of mine told me about

Take one of those little slica packs that come in the shoe boxes to keep things dry.
And since then I have not have a problem.

I 've been using this about 6 months.

I Like to have some extra cards for B-days and Weddings, Get Well. so on and on.

I often use a touch of tacky glue on the corners and that seems to hold them in place and each one of mine stands for about a week before I add it to the boxes to send out. Many of the parents write back to Keiki and say the cards get hung up on the wall and I just hate the thought of them falling apart in two days.
Hope that helps.

Guess I'm the only one who's still satisfied with Mono/SNAIL adhesive! I live in a very hot and humid climate, but my cards still stay stuck.

I like the double sided tape also. I never have a problem and I store cards for long periods. The cards I make at stamp club with the SU adhesives don't seem to hold the layers too well.

Hey there!!

Thanks for the info..I will stop and take a peak. I think I will go to the other one in town and check on the flip flops. I know that you said that you found me the stamp but if I find some, I will pick up for others. I'm still on the elusive flip flop mission. LOL I'll be in touch.

Hugs and love, Joanne

I did stop at Mikes but there was NOTHING on sale. I checked the $1 stamps too but again NOTHING new. I decided to stop at Hobby Lobby on my way hoem and was pleasantly surprised that their photo boxes were 50% off...I got two for $3.99. Woo Hoo! Does every Mikes hold different sales? I guess we have discussed this in another thread. LOL They must and depends on which part of the country you live.

I store my cards in envelopes in a pencil box ($0.50) You can lavel the box or write with a sharpie depending on the cards you have in them (B-day, Sympathy, etc) I have no complains about SU snail adhesive but I think the scotch double sided does a lousy job.
Use the silica gel packs, they will help too.

I store my samples in recipe card holders (they were at the Target $1 spot this spring) held together with binder rings. I love this and my customers can all look through a pile since I have 4 rings worth of samples.....

I think your problem is with your adhesive, not your storage system! I've found that the Tombow adhesive is horrible when it comes to long lasting sticking power! Even the "permenant" stuff stinks! Switch to double stick tape, tabs, or something else along those lines and I'd bet your problems will disappear!

Thanks to everyone who has responded and for all the great suggestions! I have decided to run my own little adhesive experiment and decide which one works best ... just another project to add to my list...off to shop!
