Default Stazon and cleaning stamps

Does the Stazon cleaner really get the stazon off rubber and acrylic stamps?

Or does it leave behind some of the ink?

Thanks,
Kate

I would say that it gets "most" of the ink off. I have had better luck by using a Spray and Wash stick. I rub it on the stamp, let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes and then scrub it with a toothbrush under running water. Finally, I condition the stamp with SU Mist. All the ink is gone!

I think I read somewhere on here that you're not supposed to use StazOn with acrylic stamps because it damages them.

I don't know about acrylic stamps but with rubber ones on which I've used staz-on ink, I pour some mineral spirits on a rough-textured cloth and scrub the stamp across it. Works every time and, so far, doesn't seem to damage the rubber.

While I have not tried this, the rumor is that SY yo yo yellow classic ink pad will clean off Staz on. Go figure!

Yes the cleaner does work if you clean the stamp twice with it. Rub off as much as you can on a paper towel; then spray and rub, spray and rub. It takes a little work but I like Stazon.

I tired this and it actually works! Although I'm not sure if the yo yo works on the acrylic stamps.

The Stazon cleaner does work, it just takes alot of rubbing.... it's easier to use the yo yo yellow (I keep an extra one just for cleaning stamps)!

Default Stazon on Cleaner

I have found that the cleaner works well if you clean the stamp right after you are finished. Even better if you clean after every use. I know that this sounds like a pain in the butt, but I am obsessed with having my stamps as clean as I can get them. I have found the stazon cleaner even seems to work to get some old ink off (from sets I have purchased from e-bay)

What else can be used if you don't have any of the things listed here? I bought the Stazon pad but forgot cleaner for it. duh! I want to start using it for some projects and don't want to wait until I get cleaner.

Smile Cleaner

One of the demonstrators I was going to suggested just using the Stampin-Mist. It will get the majority of it off. She then leaves her stamps on her Versamark pad, and it seems to take off some of the ink as well. It just absorbs the ink into the pad. Doesn't make the pad any worse to use. I have also purchased stamps second hand with staining on it. Doesn't make them work any worse, so if you have a little Stazon still on the stamp, I have found that the stamps still work.

Thanks for you reply. I did use my Stazon and cleaned my stamp with just regular stamp cleaner as soon as I was done and it did get the majority of it off. I had to go over it a couple of times with it but it worked. The stamp is a little stained but not bad and if it's still going to work that's fine with me. I was worried that the Stazon did something bad to the rubber.

p.s. The project I am working on are the glass ball ornaments. It's tricky not to it smeared when you stamp on the acetate though.

I think she meant to say SU! yo yo yellow classic ink pad, or the clasic ink pad from Stampin' Up! in the YO YO Yellow color.
