Default Stamping for an upcoming craft show?

Hi

I was just wondering if anyone was preparing for upcoming craft shows? I'm thinking about doing a few this fall.

I, too, am doing one craft show at my church this November. It's been pretty stressful, though. I had to get my son graduated first, have his open house and now I can concentrate on making stuff.

Right now I am planning on: lunchbox tins, tiles, cards, bookmarks and these small 4x4 boxes that when you lift the lid it's an accordian album.

I might be doing one at a friend's church the beginning of October. I'm just going to sit at her jewelry table will her and sell only my cards. She has to check if it's OK with her church, but I've started making at least 8 of each design - just incase.

I plan to be in one craft fair this year. I will have to sell "Christmas Fudge" (a large candy bar with a cute poem on it), Packets of Snowman Soup, Christmas cards in packages of 6, and little frames with cute sayings that are either stamped or computer generated. It's only one day so I won't have to make a ton of stuff.

I'm doing two, one in Nov. and one early Dec. I've had fabulous luck at both of them before and I'm looking forward to another great year! I stamp all year for those babies... but my stock is down due to doing the Farmer's Market this summer so I have to make it back up ASAP. I stick to all cards--the few larger items I've done haven't sold at all, but people always buy cards.

I'm signing up for a one-day show at a local high school. They've been doing them every fall and spring for a long time now, so I'm hoping for a good turnout. So far I've planned for lunch tins, tiles, cards, altered comp books w/ pens, and various smaller trinket items with the cute poems (snowman soup, pumpkin poop, etc). Kathleen, the Christmas Fudge sounds like a good idea, too!

I'm definitely doing a weeklong one in Nov. and I'm debating on another couple. Another thing that goes really well besides many of the above is popcover covers - cover the micorwavable popcorn in a sleeve with a snowman and a "just poppin' by" quote - last year I had to keep going home and making more.

Yes, I'm doing a friend's show. Mostly I'm going to do wall hangings/framed pictures (SU and others), pins in boxes, boxed note cards and packages of Christmas tags. I'm not thinking of making any real money; it's just for fun. - Gay Howe

I have three fairs that I am building stock for - one juried show at the end of October - that one made me over $600.00 last year. Then I am trying a new one and then the last one I share a table with a friend. This year I have tried a few new things, so I hope to earn more this year!!

Default I need help!

I am thinking of trying to sell my cards at a craft show. I have never done this before and am wondering if it's worth it. How much do I charge for my cards? Is $125.00 for a booth for a 3 day show a good price? I mostly just want to do it for the experience, and because I think it would be fun. BUT I don't want to work my *** off and spend a lot of money and time on this for nothing!! I'd like to make SOME profit! Should I do it?

I have done craft shows for a lot of years, but this will be my first year doing them as a SU demonstrator.
I decided that everything I sell (I love doing gift ideas) will have something to do with SU even if it's just a tag or card with the item.
I'm planning on doing:
Selection of 10 or so cards & 6x6 pages that I'll probably make up 20 or so of each one
Christmas fudge (the candy bar with poem)
and regular fudge
Magic Reindeer Food
Snowman Snowballs
Paint cans filled to themes
ornaments
notebooks & pen sets
donut snowmen
cookie turkey's
Color me card sets
tag sets
and some misc. gift items with tags & cards

Last year a lady made some turkey cookies and they sold like crazy! she had them in a small cello bag and sold them for 75 cents each.
How to make them: take 2 striped shortbread cookies.... lay one down stripes side up. glue (with frosting) a choc covered cherry on top. then glue the other cookie standing up behind the choc cherry. then glue a candy corn pointing down on the front of the choc cherry. VOLA! a "cookie Turkey"!
They are SO cute!
another idea I can't wait to do this year is donut snowmen!
Get a mini powdered donut, place a powdered donut hole on the top, then with a tooth pick to hold it together put a peppermint patty on the donut hole, and a reeses peanutbutter cup on top of the patty (to make the hat)
Then draw on a face and nose with decorating gel. isn't that cute?
I plan on making those and selling them in cello's for 75 cents as well

I'm still getting lots of ideas together and would love to swap ideas with anyone.
I wrote a christmas poem a few years ago that I'm trying to figure out what to put with it... it talks about the 12 days of christmas and basically says how you were too busy to give them the 12 days of christmas so now they can celebrate them as one... it's funny- SO my life!

ok so question, I know this is turning into a book but one more thing..... I heard that as a SU demonstrator you are not supposed to do a craft show unless you have a black tablecloth and the SU banner in sight, but the pics I see of other's craft shows doesn't have this... is that just a rule that's not enforced?

I'm getting ready for a craft show in Nov. I am planning on having Christmas cards of course, but I was going to have regular cards too. Birthday, Thank You, Just a Note, Friend, Get Well etc.

My question is, how many of each type of card should I have and which types sell the best?

Any and all help is appreciated!!

PS - I'm also making coasters, album in a box, paintcans, ornaments, candles. Yes, I only have 11 weeks to do this!! Am I crazy?? HELP!!

Ironically, at the shows during the holiday season, I don't sell a lot fo holiday cards, although this year I want to have sets of holiday thank yous. With so many people doing picture cards nowadays, the holiday cards are not as popular. Another cute thing is snowman kisses and grinch kisses (basically small cello bags filled with kisses - grinches all green - with a cute poem on the topper. I'll have to put those out and post. I sold those for 1.00 ea and they were pretty popular.

Please post your poem for the grinch kisses. That is if you don't mind sharing. Thanks!

Don't mind sharing! Here ya go:

The Grinch was mean and stingy
He never wanted to share
Til a little Who in Whoville
Taught him how to care
Now the Grinch is filled with love
And sends Grinch Kisses to you
He hopes you have a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year too!

Cello bags can be purchased from a ton of places, google online and you'll find many. For the grinch kisses, I use the small cello bags, maybe big enough for 10 kisses.

Check out the updated demo manual, JoDee! There were several changes introduced last month covering the issue of doing craft shows as a demo.

Ok I have a question for those who like to find good deals.

I have bought the little box of a few crayons at Wally World in the past and then when I went there this weekend I only found the paint kits.

I also tried the dollar store.

Does anyone know where I could find the little crayon boxes with 3 crayons?

Did you try looking at Party City or Factory Card Outlet for them? Do you have either of those near you? I think I bought them there once for a birthday favor.
