This is a spin off of stampinokaren's praise thread. None of my cards ever gets much praise and I'm wondering what kind of things I could do to improve them. Here is the link to my gallery.
I just took a look at your gallery and I think you have a wonderful mixed of cards.I dont know why you dont get more praises ,your work is very nice.I say keep up the good work.
Frenchy...keep it coming...I just checked out your gallery and it is GREAT! I especially like all of the patterned background papers you use. You do beautiful work. I know some people only look/post on cards or pages with SU stuff...I see you have other stuff as well (which is totally cool) and that may be one reason? (I am just taking a shot in the dark here - because your work is very good).

I think your cards are just gorgeous!!!!
I'm so glad you posted this because otherwise I might have missed some very nice cards. I think you're not getting a lot of comments because:
1) You're not putting in any comments about what materials/stamps you used and what technique (if any). A lot of times, I will just search for a particular technique or material and since you don't have any of that information in your file, the search engine doesn't bring it up.
2) Also, if your stamps aren't SU, then they just go into your personal gallery (as opposed to a specific stamp set gallery) and people might miss them altogether. If you use other stamp companies like Hero Arts, for example, if you put Hero Arts in your comments when you upload, the search engine will bring it up if someone wants to see what other people have done with Hero Arts stamps. I hope that makes sense.
I think you have a nice gallery, too. It's interesting what catches people's eye and draws them in for a closer look. It seems to be a combination of things: bright colors and patterns, lots of layers, unique layouts, comical scenes, popular embellishments (fads), and popular SU sets. Cards made with stamps by companies other than SU usually don't get as many comments, though there are certainly exceptions.
Have you done any of the challenges? Cards made for those always get comments and are great for improving technique. Don't get discouraged, there are so many of us that post our work, there are bound to be many who get overlooked, even though their work is beautiful.
Here's fantastic thread started by JanTInk, one of our Dirty Dozen Alumni, on how to improve: On Being Dirty-Worthy
I have viewed many of your cards when I'm looking through the gallery, but I'm a viewer, not always a poster. Your stuff is great. I really liked the mouse with the donut and was actually going to post how much I liked it, but then, well, I was at work and remembered someone had brought in donuts so I kind of got into eating a real donut instead of commenting on a card with a donut. Look at the views on your cards. People are looking at them, bringing them in closer to see how you did things, looking at the colors, and I bet they liked what they saw, just didn't say it. I don't have a gallery and I would probably be wondering why people didn't make comments too, but maybe we should look at the views too - if they are viewing it, something about the card is catching their eye in a good way. So keep up the good work. Your cards/projects are very cute. Mary
Hi Frenchy: I just went to your gallery and really liked what I saw. It's hard telling why people don't leave comments. I try to leave as many as possible when I do a quick scan of the new posts. I do know that a little love goes a long way. In my humble opinion your work needs no improvement!! As I said on one your cards, I envy your eye for shading and coloring. I'm new to SCS, so I haven't had a chance to check out all the talent but I thank you for bringing your work to my attention. I will be looking forward to your next post. Blessings ~Terri
I think your art/cards are fab-U-lous! I think a lot of times people just don't know your name so they don't look in your gallery (or in my case I'm just a bad stamper and they don't look for that reason!) Your's are great - keep it up!
Art is intended to provoke an emotion from a total stranger. If youve succeeded in this, consider yourself an artist. Paper Shanks Blog. Love me or hate me, you are still talking about me
Well! Funny you should post this today!
I was casing the gallery this AM and am doing a CASE on your Moon Wish!
I think like others have said, only the SU goes in the *main* gallery and all the other wonders we do, go into our *own* galleries. Hard as we all try, we miss alot of wonderful cards hourly!
Buy the way, I picked your gallery and a couple of others off of threads we both posted on!

I just looked in your gallery and I had commented before on several of your cards. I especially liked "Dirty Cowboy". Your gallery is awesome - keep up the good work. I try to look at the gallery nightly - but sometimes it just gets away from me!

I think your cards are great. I notice that I tend to click and view and comment on cards of a certain style that I am attracted to. Just my own preferences. I do not like to do a lot of colorbooking (coloring details) and so I tend to click on cards that I might CASE. Some are great to look at but if I don't have the stamps, similar stamps, or use that kind of layout I am less likely to look. My friends tell me I have a distinct style. Maybe I should branch out but I do what attracts me. Your stuff is pretty and well designed!
I love your gallery, hun!!! I get that too though...a million views and one comment here and there...so I understand where you are coming from. I try to comment like I am writing a thank you note. Not just a two word or one line thing like "Thanks for the socks, Grandma"...know what I mean? Sometimes though, nothing comes out of my little brain. ;)
Frenchy, don't be discouraged. Your cards are great. I don't always have time to leave comments. It doesn't mean I don't like them. I also am glad you posted this or I might have missed some good talent. Keep on doing what you are doing and keep on sharing.
i also think your gallery is great!!!!
iam totally suprised you dont get more feedback.
but what rocketgirl and colleen said could help. i also do a lot of "surch" in the gallery.
i also believe that it makes a difference if you are in groups or if you do often challanges.
also i think right now it is a bad time to post cards with old stampsets. i think cards done with the new sets are more likely to get clicked on and get a comment.
i just started my little gallery and i be honest.... i didnt get a lot of comments eigher and was dissapointed.
iam going to take some advice and participate in more challenges.

You have some really cute things in your gallery! Don't feel lonely in your feelings a lot of use have these same feelings too. I try to leave at least 10 comments every time I look at the gallery (which is several times a day), but I know that is just a very small portion that is there. (I know I need a life).

It sometimes has to do with the day or time of day you upload. If I want a particular project noticed--I TRY not upload on a Monday. Folks have been stampin' all weekend and the Gallery is usually flooded. Also the tip about the challenges is a good one.
I also try to return tit for tat. If someone comments on my gallery--I TRY to comment on theirs.
