Default Bad ink???

Has anyone had this happen? I used one of my Momento Tuxedo Black inks tonight, and the ink smeared on the paper when I ran it through the die cut machine. My older ink pad never did that. I also had it smear when I was using alcohol markers one time, and my older one never did that either. I'm wondering if I got a counterfeit ink or if they changed something about it. As it is my "go to" ink, I was not happy. I am wondering if I somehow got a fake. I know that it happens sometimes, and I can't remember if I ordered the last one with Amazon or Ebay, or if it came in the set I got from Hobby Lobby. I also have a refill, and I guess I need to test that, because I don't want it ruining my old pad. Anyone else have this happen?

Hmmm.... I purchased a new pad a few months ago and have not experienced that. I did notice little tiny splatters a couple of times.

Have you changed your paper?

I have had this happen and I blame the paper. Sometimes any ink will take longer to dry, with lots of variables: air, ink and paper. If I need to handle it or die cut or punch, I just hit it with the heat gun to be sure it is dry.

If I have to stamp and restamp the image, it takes longer to dry. Like Mary Beth said, hit it with the heat gun or let it sit for a while to dry.

I can't blame the paper, because I used the same paper, same stamp with my older stamp, and it didn't do that. It stamped fine, and I even ran my finger over it, and no smearing.

The only time I've had something like this happen was when the ink pad was over-inked. Maybe your pad is extra juicy...? Try a lighter touch until it gets a bit more used up/dry if this is the case. I actually had to tap off some excess ink with a paper towel because I got carried away with the re-inking. With a new pad, though, I'd try the light touch thing instead.

Thanks Sue! I kind of wondered that also, as it seemed like it put some splatter on it too. Thanks so much for all the feedback.
