Problem with Archival black ink pad...can you help?

I'm getting very frustrated with my new Archival black ink pad. My images are all fuzzy from all the little strings from the ink pad. I clean my stamp & make sure they are free on fuzz, but every time I ink up it's always the same. Has anyone ever had this problem before? I've tried scrapping the pad, but it doesn't seem to help. At my wits end...

Thanks,

Monika

I'm wondering if it is faulty - because I haven't had this problem at all with mine and I have had it a couple of years at least... sorry I can't be of more help but it could be that you need to contact the shop or the manufacturer.

My first question is, what type of paper are you using?

I've tried it on SU & GP & a watercolor paper ~ & it's all the same result. I can actually 'see' the fuzz on the stamp after I ink it up. I have a pallette noir ink pad as well & I have no problems (except it seems dry & it's brand new uggg).

It's been about a month since I bought the pad ~ but it's been doing it since I started. Thought it was just because it is new ~ now I'm just plain aggravated...:(

OK. I find that my Archival was actually too juicy when I bought it! Ranger was very generous with the ink. LOL

Using a paper towel, I sucked some ink off the pad in one corner to test my theory and then tried inking up an image and it worked perfectly.

Keep in mind that it is a dye ink that acts a little like a chalk ink in terms of providing really dense coverage, which means that if it is applied liberally to the stamp, it can feather a little. Nothing wrong with the ink, it just has a certain purpose. It is a much thicker permanent ink than a StazOn or Palette. I chose it when I am trying to get a solid coverage over other layers of ink or on a really porous cardstock that really sucks up the ink. I would not put watercolor paper in this category - I would use a Palette or Stazon on watercolor instead.

Hope that helps!
