Does anyone own this for the Big Shot as wellas the magnetic movers and shapers? It is really calling my name and I just want to make sure it is lovable before making the investment. Please let me know. Thanks.
Yes, I have the Big Shot AND the movers & shapers die. I LOVE everything. The little magnetic movers and shapers are a little larger than the punches that match so they are great for layering. We're going to be using these in my Sept. classes and I'm sure everyone will be excited at what they can create.
Honestly? I used it at a demo's house and thought it was pretty darn cute. I came (this) close to buying the whole set - curly label die (which is necessary to use the movers and shapers) and the movers and shapers themselves. Then I would have to supplement with the punches that I don't already have to make a complete set. Even w/o any punches, it would have cost dearly for what you're getting (IMO).
So I purchased the Slice for $90 and am thinking I can do as much and so much more with it; granted, I have to buy cartridges. But the cartridges are so much more flexible in quantity of choices and sizes than a metal die.
Nothing against SU/Sizzix products, but that's a lot of $ I can spend on some of their other products like paper, ink and markers.
I had not noticed the ones in the Holiday Mini. Now notwithstanding the hit to my pocketbook, but this thing is gonna be really great.
I do agree with binx, but once you buy the larger one for the more expensive price, the rest are reasonable items to add. I'm gonna go for it, but am going to wait until 9/1 to see if I can get hostess benefits with it (cuz I want the Patterned Pines stamp set in the Mini lol).
They have a movers & shapers die set on Joann.com for 1/2 the price of SU, then you could purchase the punch windows from SU to go w/ it couldn't you? Or, is this different than that one? I too have been thinking about getting the movers & shapers but that is a lot of money!

Is this the one you're talking about? The moveable die is different, of course, than the one you get from SU!
I am dying for these....and the holiday ones that are coming out in the Holiday Catalog. I used them at my Demo's open house and fell in love with them. Made making cards so fast!
Well I'm a demo but I cannot confirm cuz I do not own the darn thing!!!!! And if I can get it for $20 I am all over it. (I am a hobby demo) Then I could just the buy others like you say. Looks like the same thing. I'll try going to the demo site and see. Be right back.
The web site had no additional info that I could find. The description reads like the SU one in the catalog. The window punch from SU is exclusive to them though and does go with the punch. Not sure, but wow that would be a nice deal.
I know the Curly Label die is exclusive to SU!, but it looks like the "platform" (for lack of a better word) piece is the same size as the SU! version.
I think I'll take my chances and order the kit from JoAnn's.
The base piece looks identical to ours. I think the only real difference (that I can see, anyway) is the curly label die. You can't get that separately. As long as that's not the main reason you wanted the die, then why not, lol?
It works! It works! I had the Movers & Shapers Die BEFORE SU came out with it. I bought the new dies from SU and also ordered the ones in the Holiday Mini! The only thing you don't get is the Curly Label Die, which is very cute, but not worth paying the money if you already have the base.
Binx
Where did you find the Slice for $90.00? I have been 'looking' to buy one. Found it on Joann.com for $100.00 something. Sorry to hijack this thread but the price quoted by Binx was too tempting to pass without a question of where to buy the Slice. TIA
Subbing! Great info so far. Now if someone would weigh in on how to make the big die useable in the Cuttlebug, I would be a happy camper!
I know that everyone is sold on the BS, but I already have the Cuttlebug and would like to keep using it because it's a fun little machine. If only I could find extended length thin plates (same thickness as Cuttlebug B plates) I would be able to use all of these in my Bug. The search continues!

They measure 5 x 15 and they cost $6 a pair. However, when using them with thinner dies like cuttlebug of QK cookie cutter you'll need 2 more plates. Oh, and they also sell the mat http://www.accucut.com/Cutting_Mat5_...ath1,903.html?

THANK YOU!!!! I am picking up the phone and calling them right when I get done here. They are offering free shipping on any order and that offer ends today, so I must hop to it!!! I will order 2 pkgs of the one kind and 1 of the other. I'll report back on my success after I get them and try them out. Hopefully the report will be filled with smilee's !
Well I received my Movers & Shapers die from Joann's and was disappointed to learn that the Sizzix base cuts the paper 1/8" narrower than the SU! base. I guess it doesn't really matter for making cards, but for making boxes and some of the other cute projects I've seen on YouTube, I would have to fiddle with measurements and I HATE doing that. Now I need to decide if I can live with the narrower base, or return it and save my pennies for the SU! version.

*Sigh*
I didn't know there was a size difference...but I have a cricut to make boxes, etc so....this will work for me. I am waiting to order from J's until I know what trimmer I am going to order that way I can get it all at once. Which kit did you get?
I was at J's tonight & they had their new holiday sizzix dies out & I noticed an empty peg it was for movers & shapers. I asked the associate but they didn't have anymore in the back. Wonder if it is a new holiday one??

I saw this at our J's a couple of hours ago. It must be the new holiday one because it was on an end cap display with all the new holiday sizzix products. They are 40% off right now, holiday sizzix included!!! The original price shown for their mover and shaker die was $34.99, less 40% makes it $21....wow! That's less than half price of SU - now to decide how important that 1/8" difference is.

I'm a bit confused, maybe you can clarify things for me. You say the Sizzix base cuts the cards 1/8" narrower than SU, does that mean that the Sizzix card width is 4 1/8" instead of regular 4 1/4"?
Also, I haven't seen any of the neat other projects that you can make using the mover's and shaker's die. I thought it was just for making a card. Where do I go to see some of these ideas?

Yes, that's correct. The finished size for the Sizzix plate is 5 1/2 x 4 1/8. I compared it to a card I made at my demo's using the SU! plate and the card width difference was 1/8". Go figure since Sizzix makes it for SU!

Thank you SO much for linking to the blog - what a fun video! And thank you also for answering my question about the size of the finished card. I know more now than I did before!
