Default Card Envy

I have to admit I spend a lot of time viewing the Gallery and looking at my card making magazines. When I do I feel I get a little envious of all the beautiful card I see that I think I cannot even come close in my endeavors. I use a lot of what I see as inspiration and do some CASEing and feel I have come a long way since I first started stamping/card making a few years ago but still feel like I neve can come up to the quality and creativity as some of the "artisits" creations I've seen. Does any one else feel this way or is it just me?

LOL! I just checked out the DD gallery for this month and was feeling very inadequate myself. I keep telling myself that my style is clean and simple, and most of the cards in the DD gallery are NOT, but dang, there's a lot of talent on this site that makes even me feel like tucking my tail between my legs and retreating in shame...and I have a fairly healthy self-esteem.

Checked out your gallery and you do great work!

Repeat after me: "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!"

Oh it's not just you. I'm right there with ya. When I compare my work to others, I feel like SUCH an amature and I've been stamping since 1995. Another problem I have is that I can think up good ideas but when I make them, they just don't seem to come together the way I imagined them. But, I have fun and that's the most important thing.

I have card envy as well. Most of the fun for me still, is looking at all the gorgeous work out there and trying to aspire to their greatness. Besides, most of my friends don't stamp, and they think my simple cards our still great, so I am only competing against myself.

I feel the same way!! But one thing that helps a LOT is to think of the example cards designers make for the stamp companies. I love them...they are not elaborate amazing works of art, they are very nice *sendable* cards!

So it's not inadequate if you don't have the patience to make one of those AMAZING cards...it's a difference in style. I keep telling myself that...or I would quit. LOL

what she ^ said... i see it more as a difference in STYLE.

my style is more clean & simple.

i think there are a lot of very talented stampers here at SCS. some do VERY elaborate work and it is very pretty. if i am inspired by some of their work i 'bling it down' (this is a technical term that i made up LOL) to make it more C&S.
