Hi all --
I thought I would ask you experienced stampers what is probably a stupid question. I just bought the set "A Little Love" -- it has little pictures and then a saying right underneath them. I was thinking that it would make the stamps way more versatile if I mount the words on the side of the stamp - which would mean trimming pretty close on some of the stamps. Has anyone else done this? I dont' want to cut and the be sorry!
I did not on this stamp set either, bcs I was worried about some being too close...but, now looking at them, I wished I would have on the one's where there is a ton of room. I might still do that
I didn't do this, either, but I have heard of someone doing it. I've just used scotch tape to mask off the image (or the verse), then inked the image, removed the tape and stamped. Voil!
My friend did it and loves it. I wish that I would have done it. I just use a marker to get the image colored and stamped when I dont want the words on it. HTH
When I got this set, my demo (now my upline) told me to mount them "separately" but she didn't really explain what she meant. What I learned later (and what I now advise my customers) is that you should cut them apart and mount the picture and words separately, just like you'd mount a double alphabet. With the instructions I "heard", I cut them apart but mounted them on the same side of the block since I didn't know better. Duh
Anyway, the set is much more versatile with the pics and words separated.
thanks for all the advice ... I think I will try to mount them separately, at least the ones that clearly have enough room.
Your input was very helpful -- thanks!
I did it and they all came out fine! I used a sharp exacto knife to cut the rubber on the very close ones....(in a dangerous stabbing fashion). It took a while but the result was well worth it. In fact I have done this for my friends who bought their sets after seeing how I did mine. Good Luck!

Thanks for the good advice ... but I do have a funny mental picture of your dangerous stabbing motion LOL!
I have this set, too, and decided to cut some of the words away from the image. I didn't have any problem cutting between them - neither words or image were damaged. I did experience problems with the rubber on the words sliding off the foam underneath (the foam is just too skinny to support the words on some of them). To solve this problem I took a piece of discarded rubber that was larger than the words and recut the foam to the proper shape but larger so that it would provide more support for the rubber on top.
I think ideally I would like to have the words mounted on a small rectangle of wood; they would be much easier to use this way and also more likely to be used more.
