Stamp Puns...
Am I the only one that really dislikes these (my mother taught me to say that instead of hate)... I don't like the how are ewe doing with a sheep, etc... how are shoe... aaahhh they just drive me crazy. seems like a lot of stamp companies do this... is anyone else in the same boat as me??
|
It's actually the fact that the sheep has its feet in the air that bothers me. That's never a good sign with an animal and to me implies that the person is nearly gone. On the other hand, I like the 'are you cured yet' pig. Not so much the saying as how adorable it is.
|
I think it is funny because the animals that usually go along with the sayings are cute, I just can't stand the sayings... ha ha ha
|
I love the stamp puns, I think they are hilarious, just my sense of humour I guess!
|
The punny stamps are not my style, but I am not that bothered by them either. (Though at times I feel like they're taking over the SU! catty and wish some of them would move aside for some decent masculine stamps...ah, but I digress.)
|
Well I, for one, hate them (my mother didn't teach me to say 'dislike' instead.....bad mom!). Last year's catalog was overrun with those ridiculous puns and they drove me crazy! You will notice that most of them were on the chopping block and there aren't really any new ones to replace them so I'm guessing they weren't that popular. Thankfully.
|
there's alot of tongue in cheek stuff this year, though. I find it funny.
|
I confess I'm a lover of the puns- Best of Cluck is one of my Favs!! If the images of some of the other sets had been as good I would have bought them too.
|
I like some of them - but I think most of them are just poor. I don't like "are you cured yet" as I find it a bit sick (as a non-meat-eater!) :). Some only work with certain accents and some just don't make sense.
But they don't bug me half as much as all the alliteration in the catalogue!!!! So Saffron, Always Artichoke, Buckaroo Blue. Simply Circles, Simply Said, Simple Wishes... at best annoying... at worst confusing! |

Hate is an appropriate word here! |

I hate the punny type stamps as well. Oddly, I really like the All About U set. NOrmally that would irk me too. I think I was just really drawn to that U because it is the first letter of our last name.
A little off topic , but I HATE buisnesses with names that are spelled wrong. Krazy Kreations, Kayla's Kandles ( my sisters company :) ),etc. I know there are tons more, but that is all that comes to mind. |
Depends on the pun for me.
I for one love "Many Tanks" but I don't know when I'd use it, so I won't buy it. Now, it's not really a pun, but when would you send a "Big Stinkin' Deal" card- no matter how cute that skunk is? |
I absolutely love puns and punny sayings, alway have, always will. They give me a chuckle, and the way the world is today, I think we could use a little more innocent humor in our lives.
But - as far as the Farm Fever set is concerned - my mother taught me to tell it like it is, and I absolutely loathe that stamp set. It's just too weird and creepy. |

Those punny sayings are generally not my style, but I really love the ones in unfrogettable!

I agree with you 100%. I am not a fan of puns, and I do not like naming businesses with bad spelling - no wonder kids today are having a hard time in school. They see too many bad spellings such as Krispy Kreme, etc. I won't buy "punny" stamps at all. Maybe I'm just an old grouch! |
I don't care too much for the pun stamps either, but I usually love the sets that they come with. I don't think that I have ever purchased a set for a saying, just images. For Best of Cluck - I think the only words I like in that Whole set are "Cluck" and "Peep". When I mounted my set, I cut all sayings off and mounted them onto the other part of the wood block so I could stamp, stamp, stamp away with my chicks and not worry about the silly words. I'm really not big on words for my cards anyway...I mostly like the images....most puns are just a bit to cheesey for my taste!
I did use the "Happy Bird-Day" stamp once but only because years ago I got a birthday card that said, "Hippo Birdy Two Eye" and now every year my sister calls me and sings it just as loud and as obnoxious as possible on the answering machine...I gues I'd really be thrilled if they had a stamp that said Hippo Birdy! I would also spend a lot of money for a stamp that said "Spank you" instead of thank you! |
Kisamari, your post made me laugh! I think the suggestion of Hippo Birday should be sent to SU!. They'd probably make a set using that! Too funny!
Spank you is a riot too. As you can tell, I like all the pun sets ... well, not ALL of them, but a lot of them. |
