Default Anyone else have this experience?

Does this ever happen to you? A set has been in the catalog for 2, maybe 3 years, virtually ignored by you. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, you have to have it

I've used my friend's Treat Yourself set several times and liked it. Now I find it must be mine. What's up with that??

I think that might be called INSPIRATION, Lisa, which is what I get from everyone here on SCS!

I agree with Micki, Lisa. You suddenly see things made with it and get inspired yourself. I have been trying to avoid some of those inspired purchases though as sometimes it backfires and I end up with a set that I never use. If the desire to purchase it lasts over a period of time then I will get it...if not...I let it go.

Enablers is right!!! For me, not so much stamp sets, but TOOLS!! I MUST have that scallop circle punch as soon as I can get my hands on one!! Then, of course I will need the oval and square as well, to finish out the "set"! (if you give a mouse a cookie!)

Oh, I love that book (If You Give A mouse A cookie)! I read it to my kids when they were little. And it is soooo true for this stamping habit.
But, I agree it is inspiration. Now that can be a great thing, to make us see and use our stuff in different ways. But I find it can be bad when we are buying things that didn't originally grab our attention. That in itself is not bad, if we now truly like the item! I just find myself wanting everything! Some sets that I really like I wonder if the person receiving the card or gift will "get" the stamp humor or meaning. An example would be a set called Laundry Notes, I loved it but knew non stampers would not understand. So my suggestion would be to think about each new love and see if you are truly comfortable with the images, and not just the inspiration because maybe you could come up with a different set to use in the same way as the inspiration piece.
Now, I just wish I would follow my own advice!!!!!!!

It can take a LONG time for a set to grow on me. Usually after it is retired LOL! Thank goodness for ebay. I think too, that maybe over time, my style and taste change enough that things that did not appeal become appealing.
