Spring Mini Alphabits
 

Do you think the Alphabits in the Spring Mini are worth getting?

I just ordered them and the punches that go with them. I figure since they have punches that match them they will be in the new catty. We'll see soon :lol:

The Alphabits are the only thing in the Spring mini that I am going to get. I love them and they punches and think they will have endless uses.

I am debating the same thing. I have the I'm here set already so I have that alphabet square. But there are so many great ideas on here using these alphabits. I am planning on getting the punches for sure but will I use the alphabits enough to warrent getting them.

I got them early in my pre-order and have really liked them! I have to tell you that the letters, once punched, are puny and to attach them to the page takes some fancy maneuvering! And good eyes! I tried the mini glue dots but I liked using the dimensionals for a nice effect. I think the glue stick and the SU! glue pen should also work great.

Can you list some of the ideas/uses for them....I did order the 2 punches and the alphabits set, but I have limited ideas. I thought that I might punch and then place my kids names in the borders, but that is about it. I would love more ideas.

I am using it for titles, you know how you want some words big and some words small like FUN and Games. Now I have a way to make the and small. They are fun. I have them and love them

stamperitis... those are great samples!! I love the layering of the letters!

Try doing a search in the gallery for "alphabits" you'll see many samples using the alphabit. That's where I got some fantastic ideas!!!

I got them and love them! My sister used them this weekend for her swap cards...and loves them too!

I just ordered them too along with the punches. My demo pointed out that there is a sample of this set in the regular catalog! It's in the front of the book on a scrap book page. I don't have the catalog here or I would tell you the page #. I remember it's a red and blue scrapbook page and it uses the script font....maybe there are other secrect samples in the catalog - it reminds me of "where's Waldo"!

I have these, but haven't mounted them yet. I think they are going to be SUPER versatile and I love how they look in the center of flowers. It will be a great duo seller with Shapes and Shadows! :)

I think the scrapbook page you're talking about uses the "I'm Here" set. It has a small alphabet with it. It's even listed in the recipe section as the I'm Here set. Sorry to burst your bubble...

LOL! :lol: I still think we can get ready for these Alphabits to make it into the new catalog! How could they NOT? They are going to be BIG sellers due to the LOW cost and the versatility!

I am a demo and was able to preorder these along with the punches and I absolutely love them! Order 'em! Don't hold back!

I demo'd with them at my monthly meeting a sold almost every gal on them!

Hi,
I have them and love them and the punches. I stamp them and then run through my xyron sticker machine. Then you can punch them out, peel and stick. Showed them to my ladies and explained that they get 4 sets of lettering for 15.00. Had orders 2wks before I could put them in!!! Have used them on cards because the lettering is smaller and fits where larger letters wouldn't. I have also used small glue dots to attach them, works great.

Another "WOOHOO!" for cheap alphabets!!! :D

Can't wait to get mine!

It's the only set from the spring mini that I really like & thought the punches would be "must have" to go with the set. Have still been debating
about them and after reading these posts I'm pretty sure I'm going to
jump on the bandwagon. Thanks, ladies! Off to check the galleries to see
more samples. :D

stamperitis - those are 2 amazing cards. Now I'll have to reconsider getting the alphabits.

I ordered the stamps but not the punches :shock: ....so the punches are going on my next order :twisted: along with other things you ladies have convinced me that I need ;) :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

Just a little pointer; Use your tweezers from the tool kit (up sell) to hold onto the tiny lettlers. It makes placements much easier.

I plan to order the Alphabits ......and the punches......they are fab....I think!!

I have a little tip for using the punches with the alphabits. Instead of wasting so much CS by stamping out the entire alphabet each time, I simply take scraps or cut my scraps into about 1/2" wide strips. Then I simply stamp the portion of the alphabet that contains the letter I want on the scrap. Then punch it out. Then I just keep going down the scrap til it's all stamped on. Then I turn it over and do the same thing.

When I first saw the mini I fell in love with them along with the Wonderful Words II. Can't wait to get them. Thanks for the great tip, Michelle.

I just thought of a fun use for theses stamps. If you have kids with spelling words, they can punch out their spelling words as a way to study.

See, you need them for your children's education! :lol:

My friend preordered hers and got to use them already. I was very intrigued. At first I wasn't fond of them. But after seeing them used and how versatile they were, I've got to get them. The punches are great too.

For those of you who have these: Did you cut out each letter individually for mounting or leave it all as one sheet? I have visions of having to cut 104 little letters. Or is the point to leave it as one sheet, stamp the letters you need, then use the punches to punch out the letters?

I think the point is to leave it all as one sheet. There are only 4 blocks of wood. That way, they also make a cool background, and you can do a make your own word search, replacing/layering the letters you want to stand out.

Paula - I'm planning to keep each one as an individual stamp. I couldn't imagine having all those little letters. It would be a nightmare trying to keep them organized.

Now I realize I'm throwing a wrench into this friendly topic. But I just don't see the point of this set, IF you have a computer. You could print tons of alphabets in all sorts of fonts and sizes, or the individual letters, then punch them out. IMHO, I'd rather spend on stamps of images that I can't recreate. I love all the samples made with this set, tho! The gallery is so inspiring.

I plan on buying cheap wooden dowels from the builders supply and cutting them into 1" pieces then mounting each letter individually on the ends of the dowels. Hero Arts sells small stamp sets that do this and I love them. This way I don't have to punch and try to work with tiny circles and squares unless I want to for the design.

As to the kind lady with the computer savvy solution to these, I simply don't have a computer next to me when I'm stamping. They are in separate rooms and my husband is almost always hogging the computer when I have time to stamp, so I can't really just print up a sheet. I personally like the imperfect look of stamped images anyway. I love the little alphabets, but I know a lot of scrapbookers who think alphabets in general are a waste of money because they just use their computer to do it all.

I too send the letters through my Xyron machine, peel off the back then punch them out. It makes it so much easier to attach them - especially if you are mass producing. The 2 Way Glue pen works great as well.

Couple reasons...
First is color. I can never get my printed colors to match my inks. Black, yes, but anything else is a crapshoot, at best.

Second is archival-ness (is that even a word?). Most printer inks will fade. Not a big deal for cards, but a huge deal for scrapbooks.

I'm torn as to whether or not to get the set myself.

A third reason for those of us that are demos, we can upsell with the Alphabits, can't with the computer except for the Write Me a Memory CD's :)

I'm ordering the alphabits and punches tonite. I don't have a xyron machine. what do you recommend using to adhere them? crystal effects?
