Spring cleaning PSA

DON'T DO IT WHEN YOUR DH IS HOME. Or, more accurately, finish the job before he gets home!!!!!

I pulled everything off my counters in my craft/office space, took down all the curtains to wash the windows, dust, and clean the woodwork, etc and between the kids needing stuff and getting interrupted and needing to do errands I couldn't possibly get it all done and everything back in there and put away. So it looks like I have MOUNTAINS of stuff.

Of course I have mountains of stuff. He hasn't yet figured out that that's only the stuff that was OUT of the drawers. Shhhhhh...

LOL I can't hide mine it is all in Iris drawers in my dinnette area . :D

vikkijo 03-07-2011 05:52 PM

LOL
Good advice!

This is very important information on a serious topic. Thanks for warning the stamping public. :D

Perhaps you should start a small trashcan fire in the driveway to distract him while you hide everything

:D

Thank you all for a much needed laugh this morning!

LOL .. So funny great for a morning chuckle :)

JenWI409 03-08-2011 05:40 AM

Hahaha! What a great idea. I'm afraid, though, that the snow would put it out before he noticed it. LOL!

I think we all can identify with you ....

I took over my formal dining room for my papercrafting. There is LOTS of 'stuff' there.

Have sewing/quilting stuff, embroidery stuff (cross stitch), felting stuff, knitting stuff--- See what I mean. When my daughter moved out and came back for a visit, "Mom, I can't ever move back - no closet and drawer space for my stuff!" Yup, she's right.

See my moniker - Crafter 4 Life. I have been doing hand crafting since I was 8 yrs old, so for awhile now. Can't just sit and 'watch' TV. I also like to read so there is downtime from crafting. My husband says if we ever had a house fire, there would be no HOPE!

Oh well, know what you mean about 'hiding my stash of stuff'!

Phantom 03-08-2011 08:36 AM

The stuff I need to hide is the purged stuff!!! I'll sometimes have a stack of things that have to go, that usually sits around for awhile, and that would bother him more than the things I keep and use!

But I've lucked out with my purge this time -- a local church is having a "music and art" garage sale next week!!! And the donation site is the music store right next to my daughter's dance studio so it will be SO easy to remove that stack of unwanteds!!!

And even for general thorough cupboad/closet/drawer cleaning - I completely agree! What he doesn't know. . .

thanks for the PSA!!!

My DH would have me throw it ALL out but his biggest complaint is that 'Nothing" is "labelled" ummm. yes it is - he just cant see the label!! LOL
never clean when he is around is my solution

But be sure it is a CS color that you can live without, or terribly outdated patterned paper that you got for one project that you'll never complete and ow you can't stand the paper. :)

Ladies...I am !!!! NOT ;o)
Oh my goodness I will be happy when golf starts. Let the purge begin!!!!!!!!!! Is it golf season yet???

pigfingers 03-09-2011 04:37 PM

Totally hear you on that one. Last time I tried to do a clean sweep session, the DH came home 3 days early from his business trip. I was so mad!! I had a good 2 days of work ahead of me and thought I would have it all done before he came home.

Next time I have to do it when he goes on a real LONG one. Across country. Which, sad to say, I am hoping comes soon as he hasn't traveled much at all this year and I haven't gotten any good house projects done at all as a result. !!

CardLadyToo 03-09-2011 05:42 PM

LOL - my hubby doesn't really complain on how much I have - unless it finds it way upstairs from the basement......other than that - he just stands there and says "If we ever have to move........we will need a month and a 45 foot trailer - just for your craft basement!" I purge at least once a month .........ok...... I spend at least one weekend a month re organizing everything I have - not much ends up leaving the house - but it looks pretty when I finish! :) Till the next time............
