Question Ideas for invitation for my dad's80th birthday party???

I am amazed at the cards I see posted so I am asking for help. Any ideas for invitations for my dad's 80th birthday? The party is on 12/11/11. I stamp all the time but am stumped (or should I say "stamped") when it comes to my dad. He honestly doesn't have any hobbies and would not like a humorous invitation. Since the party is 2 wks before Christmas I was thinking a winter theme but not a Christmas theme. It definitely has to be masculine. I would love elegant but not over the top elegant. Anyone have any ideas? I really want this to be special.

Does he have any interests? Sports? TV shows? Movies? All of those could be the start to a secondary theme.

Does he like traditional things or modern things.

Otherwise do you have a candle stamp (or border stamp)? You could print something like " (insert name) is 80..." and then on the inside "please join us to celebrate" and then the details.

If it were me I would make it personal otherwise it would be something you could just buy. HTH.

Lovely as a Tree is a great set for guy cards.
The stamp in it that I find hard to use is that big spreading tree, but it would work really with a sentiment like Celebrating 80 years a-growing, or something like that.
Falling Leaves by ButterflyStamper - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers (not mine, I told ya it was the one stamp in that set I find hard to work with ;-)), this is the stamp I mean. I'm not sure that you could work it into elegant, but you could have a look through the gallery: Stampin Up! Gallery: Lovely As A Tree by mepopeye - Page 1 - Cards & More - Splitcoaststampers
