Default how do you get straight eyelet lines?

Hi,
I have tried to put 5 eyelets in a row on a piece of cardstock. I am finding it difficult with spacing and getting them even. Any hints?

Denise

I usually draw a very light line with pencil and then just erase it when I'm done.

I use a piece of that plastic stuff with holes in it (I think it's used for needlework?) and cut it to standard card size. You can place it on your card and mark evenly where you want your eyelets or brads to go and they're perfectly aligned!

Let me know if you don't know what I'm talking about and I'll try to find out it's proper name.

It's plastic canvas. That is what I use also. Granny Hawkins sent me mine and I use it ALL THE TIME for eyelets, brads, dots, paper piercing etc. It's better than using the SU mat pack because it will cover the whole card if you are doing paper piercing.

walmart, any craft store.

It's what many ladies use to "sew" in and make tissue box covers and various other things. It is less than $1 a sheet and you will need to cut it down to whatever size you prefer. I like mine. It is 5 1/2 X 4 1/4 inches. You can get several out of one sheet of the plastic canvas. Happy hunting. One more things. This is best used in conjunction with a spongy mat (I use the little one from the SU mat pack) so that you can line up your plastic canvas over your cardstock and then use a paper piercer to make the holes without damaging your table. If you are using eyelets, you can either pierce the hole, then go over it with your 1/8 hole punch OR use a pen to dot the paper and then punch with your hold punch. HTH

Default Mat Pack

The mat pack from Stampin' Up is awesome for this! Specifically the paper-piercing template. It has a whole bunch of different size circle on it that you can use to get straight eyelet lines. It's $9.95. I have one and love it!:p

Here is a free one for you.

The holes at the top of the Stampin Up! order form--the part you tear off are perfect for lining up eyelet holes. I use them all the time.

I also use the Stampin' Up! double circle punch (#14, page 220) a lot for lining up multiple holes. Punch once, line up on hole over the other and punch through to make the 3rd hole.

I have a product called Eyelet Friend. I have an oval and a rectangle, and they are 2 piece eyelet placement template sets. They also have several other shapes and also I have their Fiber Friend, which is for hole piercing. I got mine in a store, but you can see them & order online at timelesstouches.net.

I love mine and use them all the time!!

Stampin Up! gave us demos an idea long ago to use the holes at the top of our order or return forms to line up eyelets. You can match up your hole punch for the eyelets to the holes in the form and they are perfectly aligned and spaced! If you know a demo, ask for a spare one or maybe you can use another order form?

If you p.m. me, I'll gladly send you one.

I am another plastic canvas user. One sheet will give you a couple different sizes. I have one for my 5.5"x 4.25" and one for 5x7 cards. Very easy to use, and I like that it covers the entire card front, so I don't have to worry about lining anything up.
