Son Tore Stamp Apart !!!!
 

Someone please help me. I got out of the shower this morning and found two of my stamps torm from the blocks. My darling son tore the rubber part off of the foam part and ATE some of the foam. Don't ask why - he is 3 - I have stopped trying to figure him out. Anyway, I don't have any idea on how to reapply them. The actual rubber stamp is fine - the foam is still attached to the wood. How to reattach?!?!

Oh Randi, I feel your pain. My 4 year old likes to come in my craft room and touch all of my stuff. He absolutely loves the paper crimper. I taught him how to crimp paper and now he's obsessed! Where does he get that from?! Anyway, back to your problem. I have found crystal effects to be a very good adhesive to reapply your rubber and/or foam to your block. It takes a while to dry but once it does it is a very strong adhesive.

oh thank goodness someone knew the answer to that - I was using my dragonfly stamp from Tags and more last night - got up for a second and came back to find my dd (also 3 - darn those 3 year olds) with the rubber in one hand and the block with the foam in the other....

I was getting ready to put her in a time out when she looked up at me and said "I really sorry momma I try to help" - ahhh how can you be mad after that...

I had a few stamps from Little Layers come apart from excess "scrubbing" by a few of my customers at a stamp camp. According to Demo Support, just use rubber cement. You can probably find it anywhere office/school supplies are sold and it's cheap. Worked great for me. AND then you can try the rubber cement technique!

Still order the Crystal Effects, though. It's fun to have around and play with.

To replace the foam, use your scraps!

Thank you everyone for your great advice. I posted this morning with my towel still on my wet hair before I left for the day knowing that you guys would not let me down. I knew that there would be a solution by the time I got home. What a great bunch of people.

ya and if you use the rubber cement you can use the rest of that container of it for the technique that some have been posting.... so get double the use out of it!! :)

Companies that sell unmounted stamps and mounting supplies also (usually) sell double sided foam. It's sticky on both sides so you'd pull the foam completely off the rubber, put the rubber on one side, cut out the foam, then stick it back to the wood block.

The sheet I have is black and I think it was about $2 for a 10x8 sheet.

I'll bet if you call DS, they may offer a solution, too.

(I'm surprised that my daughter never did that to my stamps...knock on wood)

I wouldn't use crystal effects. It got all crusty & oozed all over the rubber.(It had to be weighted down to dry) I did this once. The CE was hard. & my stamp had some of the image missing when stamped.

The other day she ripped a large flower apart, I took 3 large scraps that were cut off of stamps when mounting, put the straight edges together in the middle of the stamp, & trimmed. Then mounted as usual on the wood.

For the ones where just the sticky is missing I use mono. So much easier! You don't have to wait for glue to dry either. I have put several back together this way and you would never know. I even have scrubbed them w/a toothbrush at the kitchen sink! I've never had these ones come back apart!

All this is thanks to my dd who's 2 1/2 & loves to 'eat' my stamps. (Yes, I feed her!)

I can relate with everyone's pain. However, when my children have gotten a hold of my stamps there's been no chance of repairing them. My children have 4 legs and weigh on an average of 80lbs each. :lol:

I've had to repair a couple of stamps and have used wood crafters glue. It seems to be working as I haven't had any problems with them coming back off! Sounds like alot of the suggestion here are good ones!

I have a 3 yr old also and he is obsessed with the scissors and the crimper!
