I think the Michael's peoppple are mad because of all the work they've had to do! My store has completely, totally, reorganized the scrapbook section. Stuff has been moved four aisles back, etc. Tons of new K & Co. albums and papers, though. That made me happy.

Being a quilter I sort of understand the white gloves....if you are at a quilt show you can't touch the quilts because of the acid on your hands etc. There is either a white glove person that turns the quilt for you, or white gloves to wear. A little strange for Michaels though.

I feel so out of the loop - I was in Michael's late last week and the front of the store was completely taken apart and stuff was moved and I had no idea why. No one was around to ask either! Now I want to go back and check out ol' Martha's stuff! Wonder if there's a website to check stuff out???

I intensely dislike Martha. I don't buy any of her stuff at K-Mart and I won't buy it anywhere else. The closest M's is over 2 hours away, so that's really not a problem for me.

Hearing something like that almost makes me regret that I don't have kids I could let run crazy in that isle. I think dear Martha is going to get a rude awakening.

I went to my M.'s today...the shelves and prices were up for Martha, but no product. I asked the manager and she said they were putting everything out tonight. I'll drop by in the morning. Why? Not because I love MS, but because I'm nosey! Plus, there will, I'm sure, be something I "need" in the lot.

Hello,

I agree with you on the sneezing. Maybe I should make my rounds to sneeze on her products. I dont see what the big stink is about her stuff...So, what if she's popular...but look at all the other design teams...they let us touch without a problem...they need to get realistic because people are going to turn away and they will lose money on this whole thing. White gloves give me a break..whatever.

I guess I'm in the minority. I happen to really admire Martha Stewart. I see her as an extremely ambitious woman who is very focused on her craft. I think that she is misunderstood because she has perfectionistic tendencies, she can come off as '*****y'. People like that are often just as hard on themselves as they are on others.
I am somewhat of a perfectionist myself so I feel that, on some level, I can understand her. I am really a nice person underneath as I believe she is, too.
Just my "two cents"

They were putting this stuff out last night at a Mike's I happened by here in town - no white gloves. I bought one punch (a small scalloped circle - about 1 inch across). They let me use a coupon on it so I was excited! They also have a scalloped square (same size as the circle) and some other cute punches. EK Success makes the punches (same company that makes SU's), but I could not get the punch to punch cleanly through SU cardstock. I can't help but wonder if EK Success makes stronger punches for SU as the cardstock always flies out of those punches and does not do this out of my other EK Success punches.

Although some of MS stuff is nice - have you ever seen her do anything - she has tons of people researching and writing all the instructions down for her to say - I watched her do an embossed card once and was rolling laughing - her name may be on the products but she has not created them - design teams have - I like some of her ideas and products but think she is not a very nice person - I thing she is very snooty - now not having ever met her in person - this is just my opinion of her from watching her on TV and such - and by the way anyone wanting any of her dvd's for her various teaching they are being sold at Job Lot from $1.99 to $3.00 each - now to me that doesn't say to much for them - and not being able to use coupons????? Come on - it is a coupon world out there - I buy nothing in Michaels, AC Moore or JoAnns with out a coupon or it being on sale - when it comes to crafting!!!!
Just my honest opinion!

Martha is my idol. I think a lot of the digs made at her are because she is so crafty and ingenious she makes other people aware they could do more in their home and that can lead to a lot of humor. I know I make fun. When throwing away toilet paper roll holders or some other trash I always ask myself WWMD. (What would Martha do?)

I think in the end if she were not so admired she wouldn't be where she is. I LOVE MARTHA!

I just got back from my nearest Michael's, and they had all of the products out. They are very Martha...exactly what I would have expected! The humongous sheets of cardstock were really cool, and I really liked all of the punches. The line also includes clear stamps, embellishments, etc. The 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock packs were nice, and there was this gigantic album...very expensive.

I am totally impressed with the way that Michael's has now upped their caliber of stock aside from the Martha stuff...it is about time!

What style are the patterned papers and stamps etc? Are they "folk art" or vintage, modern? Lots of florals? What about the papers? Colorful or neutrals? Pattern description? Do tell!

I took her style to be clean and simple. Very pretty. I didn't see the stamps out yet (they were only about halfway through stocking). All of her punches are white. They have a square head too (instead of the rounded one like SU's). They're packaged in 2-4-6 style boxes. The packaging is smart and pretty; just as I expected. The colors are softer, but not baby colors really (meaning they can go with anything not just baby stuff). Those big albums are huge and the paper that matches them is thick. They had maybe 20 colors of paper for the big albums and most (if not all - I don't remember) were solid CS. I overheard the Mike's people saying the big albums cost $80 each. I'm sure they're great for the heritage albums as there is really nothing else on the market that size and that has paper to match!

Frankly, I look at Martha this way - I don't care if she originates her ideas or not. If she does not, she hires well and retains smart and creative people. That is not easy to do. She also produces beautiful products that are generally good quality. She's had plenty of ups and downs and has managed to stay successful through it all. She's done something most people cannot do and for that I truly respect her. Plus, I'm thrilled to see her new line of products at Mike's and to see something that's different than the stuff already out there!

Oh and on style, I think of her style as similar to Anna Griffin, only less frilly and more modern. The stuff I saw at Mike's last night made me think of her wedding magazine.

Sorry but a lot of the digs made at her is because she is a white collar criminal and didn't serve near as much time as she should have. I wasn't going to get into it, but frankly celebrity jail time doesn't sit well with me.

There can literally be 15 people in line at the one open register and you hear someone being paged over and over again and they never materialize. I'm beginning to think that only ONE PERSON works at our Michael's at any given time.
I know you're probably frustrated when you have to deal with it, but I had to laugh at your story here. Sounds like a good idea for a comedy to me! Some of the best comedies are based on real life scenarios.

I was told by an employee at our local Michaels a few months ago that Michaels chain had been sold to the same people that bought Toys R Us. Toys R Us was bought by Amazon.Com. Since I was told this I have seen many changes taking place at our local Michaels.

I was amazed at the 24X24 scrapbook.Did anyone pick that beast up?? It would be neat i suppose for a familytree book but you would need an endloader to haul it around. I was hoping for some neat stuff cause our store has been so boring so long! K & Company had some cute stuff i thought.

People were actually making digs at Martha long before her legal troubles, that's just the excuse they use now. The fact is, she served her time and is moving on with her life. I, for one, am a fan of hers. She has had to overcome a lot of obsatcles, and she has managed to remain successful through it all. Whatever your opinion of her personally, her products are very high quality. But, they are like any other product on the market: some people will like them and some won't. Just like bellas, SU stamps, and anything else you can think of, you can't make everybody happy. While I don't get bellas, I love SU stamps and will probably like the Martha line, and that's OK!

Well, I was just at my local Michael's, and they have the Martha stuff out now. I was checking out, and I mentioned to the cashier that I noticed we couldn't use coupons on the Martha stuff and that I would have to wait until it went on sale. She said, and I quote, "It will NEVER be on sale, and you will NEVER be able to use a coupon." I replied, and I quote,"And I will NEVER buy any of it!" Can you believe that? That just graaaaaaaaaaaates on my last nerve!

I have not read all the responses but I was told all stores were suppose to release them at the same time.

She told me they could not put them out before closing on Sunday and they had to be out by opening on Monday.

She told me they had to have 2 end caps....one center display and 1 complete shelf row.

She also told me that ALL stores nationwide had to look exactly the same when they were finished so any store you went in would be just like your local store.

Gonna take a black stamp pad to the Martha section to leave smudgy fingerprints...lol just kidding. Our Michaels at least one of them is still all torn up with no Martha in site. I cant even find the $1.00 clear stamps everyone is talking about. All they have are the $1.00 red rubber ones.

I've had this happen to me, too. When it does, I just hand the coupon to the person behind me in line.

I am somewhat of a perfectionist myself so I feel that, on some level, I can understand her. I am really a nice person underneath as I believe she is, too.
Just my "two cents"
