Talking Some really cool ideas

One of my friends says she cuts up spare rubber, into small triangles, squares, rectangles, etc. to make a mosaic background stamp. she said she uses the smooth side of a tile or coaster if she doesn't have extra wood. but I thought that was neat. so anyone else have any ideas? not just making your own stamps! just tell me some tricks of the trade!

I stink at coming up with creative fresh ideas! Though I do know that there are cards in the gallery made with stamps that people fashioned in the same way you described... I remember reading a thread awhile ago about how people used their rubber scraps to simulate the look of the paper piercing punch too...

I've done that before with rectangular pieces. It turns out really great. I need to try more shapes. Also, if I don't have wood, I just go to Michaels and find those unfinished wood plaques for less than a dollar and use those as a mount. That way, you can get different shapes - I bought some circular ones that I have yet to use.

I make a lot of background type shapes by using fun foam. You can cut it with your different shears and have cool effects.

I have extra wood blocks or use them on your arcylics.

You could always buy a set of kids small wood blocks and use those to mount.

You can buy 12 x 12" sheets of rubber at Home Depot in several different thicknesses. You can create amazing things. They are $5 a sheet in the plumbing department!

Hi Sweet Caroline...
Go to this thread. Favorite Tip

By the time you finish reading all the ideas it contains, you will either be really pumped up to try them all OR you will wish you had never asked OR both. It is really mind boggling how many great ideas stampers have coume up with and have shared here at SCS.

I have never used the cut up pieces of rubber to make stamps but I do use them for dimensionals. Instead of buying the little sheets from SU! I just peel off the rubber part and the paper backing and then both sides are sticky and they become dimensionals!

GRR! I am saving all my rubber scraps from now on. What a great idea for the mosaic BG and for pop dots. I just mounted two sets yesterday, but the rubber is long gone.
