Hi.
I have just bought the Christmas Scotty stamp.
When I stamp it, the quality is poor.
It doesn't stamp clearly. I used a black Momento ink pad. Pretty sure the ink pad is fine.
Any tips?
It needs to be broken in a bit and every stamper has a different tip how to do it. I ink it up as usual then stamp on scratch paper and rub it around a bit, like an erasing motion, up & down, side to side.
Ink it up and stamp again on scratch paper and you should notice a difference.

You can further test with other ink colors or types (yes, I know Scotties are black) and do try it with a Stamparatus/MISTI for re-stamping with exact placement and "fill-in" help.
There are occasions where the stamp, itself, is defective. In cases like that, SU! will likely take care of the problem with a replacement.
I rub them on my clothes to get rid of residue. I am usually wearing work clothes/jeans when stamping since I am just as likely to drop an inked stamp on myself as not or otherwise get ink on me. I do that will all stamps, not just solids.

Yes, inking, stamping, twisting &/or side-to-side rubbing usually takes care of it.
If needed, I often spritz stamp cleaner on my old stamp cleaner brushy 'pad' & dry it off before re-inking.
There are some solid designs that simply work best by stamping within a stamp positioner, reinking, & stamp again. Best wishes!
Every time I get a new stamp set, I stamp each and every stamp with versamark, stamp on a sheet of scrap, then clean the stamp. Not sure why this works but it has really improved the quality of the images.
Also, are you using a “pad” under the card stock when you use photopolymer stamps? I don’t have that Christmas Scottie set so not sure what it is made of
I remember reading somehwere that rubbing over the stamp with an eraser gets rid of any manufacturing residue that might prevent the image stamping clearly, probably a similar trick to the one mentioned about the rubbing of the stamp on the paper.
Good ideas! Before I use a new stamp, be it rubber or photopolymer, I clean it using my Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Cleaner to get off any manufacturing residue.
I do Gina K's suggestion for prepping a stamp for first use. Attach it to your block or stamping platform, then rub your fingers or palm over it a few times. This removes the oils that naturally occur from the manufacturing process. I do it for every new stamp I use, and it works like a charm. Hope this helps. Gina also says not to use an eraser on them as it can damage the stamp.

I gave up Momento Black when I got Versafine Claire, (Nocturn is their black) Versafine is Much blacker. I also have Distress Oxide black which does well on solid images.
