Zekey went to heaven this morning. She had spunk all the way until today. We are heartbroken as I know you all can understand. We are gratefully for the 23 years of love and companionship she gave us.
My heart aches for you loss. Sharing tears of sadness and prayers for your family.

Arlene, I'm so sorry to hear Zekey passed. It is heartbreaking when we loose our wonderful companions, they're members of our family. They're not enough words to express how badly I feel for you and your family. Sending condolences and hugs your way.:

I just saw that - I am so, so sorry. 23 years of love and safety and freedom from fear you gave her, too. ♥
So sorry for the loss of your beloved Zekey...tears, prayers and hugs, my friend! May the comfort of the good memories help you through the days ahead...
Zekey's long and spunky life is testament to the great care she received from you. I looked forward to Zekey updates here and will miss her. My condolences to you and yours.
Our cat Sarge just turned 16 years old on the 4th of July.
We got him when he was 8 weeks. These days he's not doing well. He has Hyperthyroidism We have been treating with Naturally. Mostly cause he's never been on any meds. in his life.
He's had this for 2 years now.
But he is slowly getting to where he doesn't like to eat, He does drink. and likes laying in the bathroom sink.
Which I clean daily.
My niece stayed at our house while we were on vacation, keeping our Abel company. Even though we warned her about his many octaves she was very surprised. We keep the patio door open slightly so he can come and go. (screened in deck) He has one voice to let us know he's in to get a drink, another to let us know he's on the way out. Another to let us know his dish is empty, another to know he wants attention. He was happy to see us when we came home and vise versa :-). Abel was 3 when we adopted him from the SPCA 4 years ago, and before us, he was at 2 different shelters and 2 owners. Needless to say he's here to stay.

Not looking forward to the day when he's gone! :(
Sarge is so handsome! So sorry to hear he is not doing well...
He reminds me of my first kitty, Salem (adopted him at 8 weeks old) and he lived to be almost 15 years old...Salem developed a huge tumor on his throat when he was approx. 13.
Once he developed the tumor and we had it surgically removed, I "explained" to Salem that he could no longer go outside (prior to this he was an indoor/outdoor kitty - long story but none of our other kitties have been allowed outside).
Before the surgery, we could have never kept him in the house without him having a "hissy" fit (attacking his sisters, scratching all of our furniture, being in a bad mood, etc.) ...but after the surgery, he never left my side and did not even go to the door to be let out! It was as if he knew that he was ill and he would sit on the corner of the sofa as I entered the front door and leap onto my shoulder. He would rest his front paws on my shoulder and hang onto me the entire time I was home...it made it difficult to cook, sew, stamp, etc. and he lived another year before the tumor returned (they could not excise all of it since it had attached to his aorta) and this was 26 years ago, but I think of him often and miss him...
Treasure the moments that you have with your sweet kitties- my only wish is that they could live longer. The unconditional love and companionship is worth every moment.
Hugs to all of my kitty-loving friends and we understand your pain of loss...tears in my eyes now...
I regret having to continue the sad turn this thread has taken of late, but our little tortie B'Elanna died in the night. She was nearly 19. She had a major stroke 17 months ago, and a few other incidents since then, but was always so stubborn and kept going.
For a small cat, she's left a big gap in our home and our lives (although our Maine Coon is doing her best to fill the space)
I'm so sorry about your Tortie cat! I have always love tortoiseshell cats; they are always so sweet and sassy! Not to mention beautiful! My heart goes out to you!!! I am so sorry!
She's adorable Angie! We seem to attract strays. Last night there was a gray and whit cat on my front porch. I went to shoosh it away and it came to the door like it would have come in! DS just found a kitten about three months old that is so cute. She plays with her tail, so she's not going near my craft room! LOL. She would love my ribbon!
Strays find us too! Both of our cats are strays. They found us five years apart so I jokingly say that we have two more years before we adopt another cat! We actually went to Pet Smart to adopt our son's first kitty, five years before our current oldest one showed up. We seem to have a thing with 5 years. There is a beautiful orange tabby that comes and looks in our bay window every once in awhile but I think it is feral so we are in no danger of giving our heart away again.
I have one inside cat. We adopted him from SPCA in 2009. He's a tuxedo cat and is big! Not so much fat, but he's long. Weighs about 17-19 lbs. I'll know for sure Wednesday because he's headed for his yearly checkup up and shots. I tried to add a picture but I'm still having trouble inserting pictures in the forums.
Our kitties were strays, too. Our tuxedo kitty, now in heaven was a sick little tuxedo boy when we brought him home, and then a couple years later HE brought our Siamese baby home...that was about 12 years ago, and Migo is no longer an indoor/outdoor kitty. He stays inside to pester his puppies and pursue the bromance he has going with his relatively recently rehomed brother, an Aussie, border collie, cattahoulie mix who tries to herd him around the house. Too much fun.

Just saw this - so sorry about B'Elanna...my heart goes out to you.
Took kitty for his annual shots and he weighed in at 18 lbs! But that's four pounds less than last year, so that's a good thing. He is not fat, he is long and big. But I'll soon need a carrier on wheels because it's all I can do to carry him into the office. He cries from the time I put him in the carrier until the time I let him back out at home! He seems to know that the only time he's in that thing is when he's going to the doctors. I had to turn the carrier upside down and dump him (gently) out at the vets. He was not coming out there without a fight! LOL But he's good for them. He's just not used to going anywhere.
Aw she's cute! Lucky you, you can insert pictures. I'm having trouble with that. I have a picture I wanted to add but will have to wait until that works.

Thanks Kathy. I wonder why it's not working for you ... I "go advanced", click on the icon that looks like a little postcard with a stamp and some mountains. Then I usually have to wait a few seconds before I can upload from device.
Yes, that's how I always did it but last week it quit working for me. I get as far as actually uploading the picture from my device but when I click on insert and look at the post it doesn't insert it. A few others are having issues too, so it isn't just me. I'll just wait and hope they can figure it out.
