Smile So I wish someone would have warned me.......

..............that these little blocks of wood & rubber could be sooooo darned adicting!!!!! I've started going to a SU club with a friend of mine, we started last month (yep dropped $125 at that one)........i just "had to have" a couple of the sellabration sets of course. (good thing my SU demo mounts them for me)

So last night was my second month.............and yep you guessed it I went crazy with the spring mini!!!!!! (Shhhhhhhhh don't tell DH)

But man coming home last night with the previous months purchases was like Christmas morning. I'd forgot what I had ordered!!!!! I had so much fun going through saying to myslef "oh yeah....i did order that" It makes me want to go ink each of them up ............... just so i can use them.....lol

PLease Please tell me that theres a treatment for this adiction!!!!! lol

Just feed the addiction regularly and no one will get hurt
I think I read there is a 12 step program somewhere....I don't need it though...I'm not an addict!

Hey there! I just started stamping in December...literally...a friend of mine from work asked if I would like to go to a "stamp camp" and we made gift tags. I thought they were sooooooo cute that I asked her to invite me to the next camp...and it's been downhill since then. I have bought so many stamp sets and even got some from Ebay (retired sets or other non-SU stamps). I think my checkbook trembles when I go to a class because I know I am going to buy, buy, buy! My problem is actually doing anything. I am getting there, but sort of intimidated with all of the fabulous cards I see here! I gotta start somewhere!!!

My other problem is that I have probably bought stuff that wasn't too smart and I probably could have saved some money but I was so eager to get started.

I wish I could help you with your "addiction" but I'm right there next ta ya sistah!

Hoping to see more of you on the site and let me know when you post a card!

I've already got a few cards in my gallery. I think that you can click on my username and see the gallery. If not I know you can do a search for my screen name when you click search from the gallery.......that should bring up the cards i've posted.

OH OH.....Too late You're hooked.!! And as far as I know, there is no known cure for this addiction ....I acquired it a few years back, and you do NOT want to know how much I have spent since then......
This addiction goes along with the " got it, got it, want it" disease, which is also not treatable.....so sorry for the prognosis.......

There is a treatment....More stamps!
Step 1: Buy 1 set
Step 2: Buy 2 sets
Step 3: Buy 3 sets

I could go on....

I don't have a problem at all. I don't know what you are all talking about. Nuh uh. Not me. Just ask my Cuttlebug, and my Binditall, and my ribbons, and . . . .

Nope! No cure.........I've had the disease for 20 years and it just gets worse. The problem isn't the rubber. It is all the accessories that the rubber required to be fed. Paper is their first requirement. Pretty soon they demand ribbon, brads, and eyelets (see pinkhedgehog for these). Then they demand a room of their own like some big overgrown kid that won't move out!

Nope!

No cure at all. Just give them the homage they are due!

I am in the same boat with all of you! My first time to a SU! class I was making excuses not to go, but it was for my sister and you know how that goes. She now sells SU! and is doing a great job with it. Who knew we were all so creative? My DH doesn't like to talk about it......(I think he is jealous of the stamps!)

No 12 step program for me. (Why would we NEED one, anyway???)

People tell me I'm addicted. I stamp every day and I'm not addicted yet.

It is addicting and you have to be careful because it gets harder and harder to find places to put all the supplies. We've finished off and open porch making it into a craft room, bought 2 huge pieces of furniture from IKEA and spent hundred (actually thousands) of $$$$$ to support my stamping and my hubby's stained glass. But at least it keeps us out of the bars (just kidding- we never went there to begin with!) My MIL lives with us and does painting, so I always tease them and say "the family that crafts together, stays together!" We could be doing lots worse.

Here's my 12 step program:

1. I confess that my love for stamps is out of control--I need help.
2. I realize that stamps rule my life and threaten my household budget.
3. I resolve to find out if there is life outside of stamps.
4. I promise to make an honest inventory of all my stamps and supplies.
5. I will tell my family the "real" cost of my addiction.
6. I stand ready to give away some of my stamps to healthy stampers.
7. I promise not to lure any more friends into the dangers of stamping.
8. I will not spend all my time online searching card samples or chatting with fellow stampers.
9. I will apologize to friends and family who have slept in the basement because the guest room is full of stamps.
10. I will buy all my greeting cards at a store.
11. I will read inspirational material about others who have remained un-inked.
12. I will celebrate my new recovery with copies of the latest stamping magazines--maybe an ink pad, some paper, a punch, fibers, eyelets, embossing powder....

You are soooooooo lucky!!! None of my family or friends like to stamp so I have to hide what I buy because I get the "look." I recently stated that I would like to have a "stamp room" and the comment I got was "you get a stamp corner!"

The secret to the addiction is to make sure your DH also has an addiction to something so you can equalize your money spent. His car parts = my new stamps!

Yup, thats the winner right there!!!!

My DH is a golfer and you wouldn't believe how much a round is...not to mention the cost of clubs, shoes, gloves and the beer they go out for afterwards.

DH thinks I am the best wife out there as I am always encouraging him to go....have fun....you need to bond with the boys. Little does he know what is REALLY in my stamp room!!! insert evil snicker here!

What can I add? You have all said it so well. Of course, it could not apply to me as I am not addicted. I just get up early (ok, very early) and turn on the computer (SCS, of course) even before that first cup of coffee. And try to have a challenge done before DH is chomping at the bit for breakfast. But it is NOT an addiction. Just an inexpensive little hobby - whose supplies do not take up any space at all in our RV!

If you consider a therapist can charge up to $60 or more per hour, stamping's pretty cheap and you get to keep the goodies afterwards. The "toys" my DH buys are always more than $50 a pop or more, so stamping is a pretty cheap habit - all things considered. Since I don't drink, smoke or do drugs..... this is not a bad addiction IMHO....

Well as you can see by my login that I also have this addiction., but I prefer to call it therapy . I'm glad that my kids are grown and out of college or I may have robbed their college fund to keep getting "therapy". But seriously, I only started a year ago and my one big regret in this is that I didn't start this years ago, because I just love it and I'm not even that good at it! - Bobbie

Um.... I ain't leaving, but I'd recommend staying off this site while you're at it!

...or at least don't go into any area which has people talking about cool techniques, tools, websites, ANYTHING that says "Bella", NO GALLERY INVESTIGATING! No tutorials...

Are you still here!!!! Run while you can!!!!

DH is into triathlon--that's three sports in one! You'd think swimming wouldn't be too expensive, but ever priced a full wetsuit with a quick escape zipper for faster transition times? We have a stable of bikes in the garage--not one cost less than $2,500. Who'd have thought you need so many gadgets to swim, bike, run? There are watches, GPS tracking systems, running shoes, goggles, special clothes for each sport, hard cases to carry bikes on planes, yadda, yadda.

His addiction makes mine look downright affordable!
