Default Snowman soup for candy corn?

Well ... that title sounds weird! I was just wondering if anyone had a similar type poem (like the snowman soup) except for candy corn. I thought I would make goody bags up for my DS's class and include a cute poem but I really haven't found anything. TIA!

OMG-Candy Corn is one of those candies that you can't get enough of at the beginning of the bag, but you can't stand them by the end of the bag---now i mean a big bag. Sorta like Peeps-have one great---have three or four---YUCK!!!!

Oh absolutely. It starts off so innocently ... a couple of candy corn ... later at the bottom of the bag you're holding your stomach thinking "why?" hehehe

BTW ... that poem thread is awesome!!! And thank you for the poop poems. I was trying to stay away from "poop" because ... well ... I think it's gross! But I'm guessing a group of second graders won't! Thanks again!

Here's a candy corn poem I found, although probably not appropriate for second graders.

Candy Corn

A Poem by Thaddeus Tarpey

When Autumn sun warms dying stalks
Of corn with unkempt tassle locks.
The earth turns from green to brown,
Candy corn comes to town.

A toothless witch begins to hiss,
Spooky spirits run amiss.
The leaves in trees turn an amber hue,
Candy Corn, I yearn for you.

Across my path a shadow creeps,
Into day, nightime seeps.
My dreams turn to sugary storms.
Candy corn keep me warm.

Before I die and decompose,
Let me warm by your coals.
Orange, white, yellow form,
The wonderment of Candy corn.

Thank you for the description! I have not seen candy corn for sale in Canada, but once I get down to Texas now that I know they don't taste weird I will have to pick up a little bag.

Candy corn is made with honey...and I imagine lots of other sugars. That's why it tastes sooo good to start with and sooo yucky by the bottom of the bag.

OMG! Have you ever made a "snack mix" by putting candy corn and salted peanuts together? It's awesome - you get sweet and salty at the same time! YUMMY!

Here's one, but it will only work with the yellow, orange and white corn.

Yellow is for sunshine,
For summer now is past
And with it days of shoeless feet
Playing in fresh mown grass.

White is for the winter
It seems so far away,
When a jacket's all you really need
To go outside and play.

But orange is for the pumpkins
All carved and set aglow
That welcome in the autumn
With Halloween in tow.

Don't know where you are, but they do have it in Canada. I have seen it in the bulk bins in Superstore around Halloween.

Mel:

You can get it this time of year at WalMart and most supermarkets...and as someone mentioned in bulk food sections...I personally found it too sweet and it's more of a sugary taste than anything but it was nice mixed with milk chocolate chips and salted peanuts...it's more-ish at first but I am also someone who finds it a bit much after a few handfuls. I tasted it for the first time last year in this mix (pumpkin poop) but won't be making it again...it's on my list of banned candies along with the molasses kisses you can get at Halloween...

I hate candy corn too, but have to try a piece every year because I think the candy itself is so cute. Only takes one piece to remind me how much I hate that stuff!!!!

Thanks for sharing all the poems. I think you either love or hate candy corn. My DH hates it, I on the other hand just finished a bag. I'm picky though, it has to be Brachs. The cat and dog like it too!

I think I'm going to make ghost lollipops for my coworkers. Last year I did pumpkin shaped Rice Krispy Treats.

I like candy corn, but my favorite is the assorted bag with pumpkins, black cats, choc. bats, and the chocolate candy corn. But you can only eat a small handful. How in the world did we do it as kids?

Who remembers ?
bobbing for apples, popcorn balls, hayrides, toasting pumpkin seeds, campfire stories.
