Default Embossing help needed

I am trying to heat emboss and the powder keep sticking to all the paper around the versamarked image. I do not have the embossing buddy, but after tonight, I am definately getting it on my next order, but until then is there anything I can do for now. I have tried the used dryer sheet thing, but no luck there. Could it possibly be because it is warm in my house right now with the humidity outside? I am suppose to be showing a couple of friends how to heat emboss on Friday and right now I am having so many problems with this. Please help me.

Thanks in advance.

I've heard that some people put cornstarch inside an old sock and use it like an embossing buddy.

After dumping the powder off the card, give it a good flick on the back with your finger - the powder should still stick to the image, but most of the excess should come off.

Then I usually use a small soft brush (it was one that came in a make-up brush set that I "re-purposed) to brush away the rest of the stray bits.

Question

good ideas, but what if you don't happen to have any corn starch on hand? would anything else work in place of corn starch?

I think that I'd use the baby powder if I didn't have corn starch. Good Luck!
Relax and you can & will conquer heat embossing!!!

I apply baby powder before stamping & embossing. A friend suggested fabric softener sheets (the ones for the dryer).

Default Thanks so much

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I used corn starch in a sock and it worked wonderful.
