simple, white based cards
Does anyone know of a thread or a challenge with simple white based cards? I need some ideas, and sometimes there are just way too many on this site - KWIM?

In the gallery, you can type CC5 in the search window, which was a black and white color challenge. It brings up alot of basic white ideas. Pretty ones too!!!!
Or better yet, here's the link
http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...?si=CC5&limit=

Another challenge
I think it was a Limited Supply challenge called Wide Open Spaces. Not necessarily white, but I suppose most of those cards could be made on white as well.

Back around Christmas time there was a thread floating around here that was about One-layer cards. They were Christmas in design, but great for ideas.
You could also try searching the gallery for one-layer cards.

Oh how I wish I knew how to link cards. I love simple white-based cards and have a number of them in my favourites. Sorry that you will have to go to each persons gallery individually but here they are:
Sweet Miss Daisy. Just have a look. She has a tonne.
Tah Dah! (Paisley Anniversary, May 17, 2007)
Julia S (Sweet Pea, May 17, 2007)
inkpad (Simple Graduation, May 8, 2007)
kysmom (Simple Smile, April 15 and I've Been Bugged)
rohla (First Communion Invite, April 5, 2007)
my time (My Friend CC89, Nov. 22,2006)
Tracy-Stamper (Pretty Autumn, Nov. 1, 2006)
I hope that helps.

Thanks Marsha those are great. Let me see if I can return the favor by talking you through how to link. There may be a better way, but this is how I do it:
1. Open 2 windows, 1 with the thread and one with the card
2. In the card window copy the address (except for the http://)in the browser
3. In the thread window click on the go advanced button to add a post
4. Click on the globe icon with the paper clip //www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/410318?cat=500&perpage=12&sort=4&ppuser=31109
5. A box appears, Paste in the address you copied from the other window and click ok.
I know there is a way to use a word to replace the URL, but haven't figured that out yet.
HTH and thanks for the info.

In step #3...Just type a word or the name of the card in the thread it's self then highlight the word.
Then click on the globe and paste the address and Voila!
BTW, Firefox's tabbed browsing makes it so much easier!!!!
Here's a card by codepink
And one by genie1234
this simply beautiful one by inkpad also follow her link to her cereal box embossing

I have a few in my gallery - I really like using the SU notecards - they are smaller than the A2 cards so when you are doing a simple card it doesn't seem like a lot of space
Simple Thank You - SU Notecard
This one is layered but could easily be done on one layer
Simply Said
Very Punny Cards - SU notecards
Cuttlebug Valentine Card
Christmas Set

To open two windows, just open Internet Explorer (or whatever browser you use) again. If you need to see your desktop to get to your browser icon, you can minimize the window that you already have open by clicking on the minus (-) sign at the upper right of the window.
In order to be able to see both windows at the same time resize them so they don't take up the whole screen by clicking on the button in the upper corner of the browser that has the square in it (next to the red X Close button.)

There was a thread started a week or two ago asking the same questions and JulieHRR said to type in OLC (for one layer cards) in teh search and it would bring up over 100 different cards.
I also have several in my gallery. Simple, one layers are one of my favorites to make. They are harder than what they look!

If you go to the home gallery page you can type olc in the basic search box and it will bring up at least 4 pages of cards. A number of people put olc (short for one layer card) in the keywords section when they do one of these. The majority of these are white based cards. You will see quite a few by the queen of OLCs, JulieHRR.
Also, here is a link to the LSC challenge: Wide Open Spaces
I hope that helps!

Sorry, I must be completely computer illiterate. So now I know how to open two windows (step one) and I have figured out step 3 and 4, but where do I find the address of the card? Am I a complete dimwit?

I was going to suggest the same thing. Just type "OLC" in the search field in the gallery and you will get a bunch. I was shocked when I did it, so many were there. I am going to start adding OLC to my key words.

One of your windows should have the card open that you want to link to. At the top of that screen is the address bar - it has an S icon in the corner of it - you need to copy and paste that address...it starts with http:// etc. be sure and get the whole address - there may be more than is visible in the rectangle!

I am going to link a card here just in case it doesn't show up on your OLC search. It is by kysmom and is called Pink and Olive Thanks.

I think it is one of the most beautiful cards I have ever seen!

I love the elegance of one layer cards. I also love it that you can put together a beautiful card with very limited supplies and still create a look that you would feel happy to give to someone and not feel like you should have added more.
Here is a link to one that I have in my gallery that I have adapted many times using different colours and it still looks good. I do really love this colour choice best.
