Default Silly me......it Disintegrated!!

Have any of you ever purchased or received from a free offer one of those preinked stamps? I did and decided that I didn't like the pre-inked feature. I then thought that if I cleaned off the ink I could just use the stamp with regular ink. I grabbed my StazOn cleaner (it should work the best right?) and rubbed it on the 'rubber' and it completely disintegrated before my very eyes. Live and learn.

So........my advice to you is.......don't ever clean them!!

I wasn't too distressed about it......I had gotten it free. BUT I certainly learned a lesson and wanted to share so no one else would try.

Hey, Doodah, did you see the thread about the scs gathering for Portland in October? //www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=175413&goto=newpost

A friend of mine used stazon cleaner to clean up her wood stamps. Cleaned up the stamp rubber just great... but some of the cleaner got on the label, and it caused the label to disintegrated. To make it even worse... she was cleaning it up to try to sell it! Lost some of its value to not have the label image on the wood!

Oh no what a bummer. I'd never really thought about cleaning mine to try to use other colors or anything. Hmmmm I wonder if you just used plain water if it would work. I think I have one of a random letter that I might be able to try that with.

Hmmm.... that's good to know actually. I have some of those self inked stamps that you're referring to and I have thought about making them just regular stamps.
I'm sorry this happened to you but thanks for the warning.

Have a stamp happy day!
