I just used it for the first time last night. I was dreading it because I thought it would be hassle, more trouble than it was worth. Boy, was I wrong! It was super easy and super quick. Here's the card. I used it to line up the fence. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Anyway . . . just wanted to share that with everyone.
I love - love - love my stampmajig! I don't know what I would do without it. I bought the refill pack because sometimes I need to do multiple placements during the same stamping session. 'Ya gotta love things that make it so much easier to do what you love to do anyway.
I wasn't sure about the stampamajig at first because I didn't think I liked the idea of having to clean the template sheet off all the time (especially because I like to use it for the alphabet stamp sets to line up my words straight). BUT then I got a good idea....I started using transparency sheets and cuting out squares that would match my stamp I was using (for alphabet stamps it works to use the square punch) and I use the staz-on ink to stamp onto the transparency sheet so that it will be permanent. Then I can put that square in with my stamp set and just be able to pull it out quickly next time I want to use it.
It is a really useful tool!
I felt the same way about mine. I just had to have it, but once I got it I never even opened it. Thought it would be too troublesome to use, but I just recently tried it and I LOVE it. I have had mine for over a year and am just now finding out what a treasure I have had all this time.

- I worked it out myself but maybe it was out there before!-LOL!
that way you can use the stampamajig less! and get better results with freestyle eyeballing !
I've even used it to line up the 2 and 3-step stampin' sets so that I don't need to use the sheet in between and the images will "stack" properly.
If anyone else is as picky as I am, please pm me for any other info or help!

I just ordered one at the last stamp club meeting I attended. We used it and I loved it. My demo says that she purchased the extra set of mats so that she could stamp often used phrases, etc. so that she could keep it that way and not have to clean it off (to save time).
I have pretty much not bought one for the same reasons; to much of a hassle, troublesome, problems etc. BUT a friend of mine has one and she loves hers and you all are saying the same thing, so think I will have to invest in one. I'm always such a wimp when it comes to trying new things.

I love mine. I can't remember who from SCS recommended this, but I take squares of vellum and stamm an image with the stamp-a-ma-jig in each corner. To make this a little less onerous, I do a set as I use it. Then I pur the vellum square in the box with the stamps. I have a record of the stamps in the set AND a ready made stampamajig template. It's so easy!
I bought one almost 2 weeks ago and haven't even taken it out of the package! It's for exactly that reason - I'm scared it will be hard to use! Thanks for posting this - I'll try it tomorrow. Not tonight - must go to sleep!
Where would one obtain the extra plastic pieces. I was stamping the other night and got distracted and left some images on all four corners of my stamp-ma-jig and now the ink seems to be permanently on there. I feel so dumb for leaving it on but live and learn I suppose.
Oh! It should clean off! The black can be difficult - I try to NOT use black to stamp the image. But try the stamping mist, or the Mr. Clean magic eraser if all else fails.
SU! sells the extra 3 but I found them at a stamp shop for a buck! Really! That was before SU! carried the extras.
I for one don't really "get" why anyone would use up expensive vellum for this. I KNOW a lot of you do it!!! I mean, the whole point of the thing is to be reusable.
Well, here's how I do it quickly. I keep a damp washcloth in an old plastic bowl, nearby, when I stamp. That's because I am by nature a klutz and will leave fingerprints on my almost finished cards, ruining them. So this cloth is ALWAYS nearby, and I am always reaching over to just rub my fingertips on it. Because it's so handy, it's just as easy to swipe the cloth across the SAMJ plastic.
I like having the extras so that if I'm working on a project, I can leave images on one without smearing it. (I tried using different corners, but would smear it, get the ink on me, and - you guessed it - ruin the card. LOL)
My now upline never used one, but when I finally saw how it worked in an online tutorial a few years ago, I immediately got one. She's one of those "put it on crooked" types, whereas I like a more lined up look.

I've had one made by a different company for a long time and didn't get real good result. The real Stampamajig is SO much better. It is thicker so it's easier to slide the stamp in to place. Hope that makes sense, if not take my word for it... Go with the SU one. I can't remember the price I paid for the other one, but even if the SU is more it's definitely worth it.

I'm guessing you mean that you line up the rubber on the wood when you mount them? Okay - tell me how please?

What a great idea!! I love my Stampamajig, it is so easy to use and makes certain layouts MUCH easier, no guessing on placement!!

You don't have to use expensive vellum
I just got a pack of 12x12 vellum cardstock at JoAnn for $5.00 for 25 sheets. I cut one sheet up into 4x4 squares, so they're about about .03 each. I used 2 squares for my Sincere Salutations set, stamped one on each corner. So for .06, I don't have the hassle of stamping on the reuseable sheet each time. For something like a greeting, which I always SAMJ, it's totally worth it to me ;) For an alphabet, you could use even smaller squares, 3x3 for most of the alphas.
I don't bother with most image sets, I'd do the reuseable sheet for those. And I'm bad, I picked up the refills at ACMoore for .99, I saw no reason to pay SU $2.50 for the exact same thing.
Can you use a regular window sheet? I love the idea to use squares for the alphas. I may have to get a SAMJ after all!
I don't see why not, but you'd probably have to stamp them with Staz-on. Then, if you're meticulous with your stamps, you'd have to use the Ranger brand cleaner to get it off.
