I will be in Orlando in September and am wondering if there are any good stamp stores in Orlando or close by Orlando. Can anyone give me any leads? Thanks.
There are no more stamp stores in the Orlando area. The only one that is still open but seems to be stuggling is Impressions from the Heart which is in Casselberry, and that is closing sometime in Sept. from what the manager of the store told my friend.

I just called Impressions to ask about them closing, and they couldn't confirm (nor did they deny) that the store would be closing.
So, when you're in town, you should check. It's a neat store with lots of product.
You must visit Stamping Station in Mount Dora. I just moved to Mount Dora and it is a wonderful store. They have tons of stuff.

Mount Dora is a twin town with Forres in Scoltand where I live!
We visted once when we were in the area and its a beautiful town full of small stops and garden, there was a tent up in the main square with loads of punpkins all around, just the american dream for me. I will go back again.
I take the family to Orlando so that I can shop, it is as simple as that.
But I have my fav stores, these tend to be the big ones as we have nothing like that in the UK.
Next trip I will not have DH, just me and the children who are well trained in letting Mum shop or else.
I find a lot of the shops are Scrapbook, which I find fantastic, but not a great deal of stamps.
I am intrested to find out other places to take my kids for the day. LOL
There are a lot of great stores up near Jacksonville, which is only about 1-1/2 hours from Orlando. I understand there are several over in Tampa which are great also.
A Small Cleverness in Orange Park is one of my favorites, as is Claire's Collectibles in St. Augustine. Both are small stores, but they had a good variety of stamps and stamping products.
A Small Cleverness is in a strip mall and easy to get to off the highway. At Claire's, parking is very difficult (on-street, parallel-parking nightmare in heavy St. Augustine traffic), but St. Augustine would be fun for the kids too. There's the fort to go explore, lots of little shops & restaurants. It would be a nice day trip for you.

Wow, I had no idea they were closing too! What in heaven's name is wrong with our area that we can't sustain any stamp/scrap stores? I'll bet high rent has a lot to do with it.
I never really shopped over there, though, because I wasn't impressed with their variety of stamps or supplies.

The Stamping Station is my home LSS! There are lots of great teachers and classes going on, I also teach an occasional class as well! I also like Impressions, I am hoping the rumor mill isn't true but I have heard they are struggling which is rough since they are such nice people and have awesome classes. Visit both and support the local stamp stores in your areas, it's a shame to see this trend of stores closing since I feel they offer such valuable resources for stampers/scrapbookers. Just my 2 cents!
I'm really bummed, about Impressions from the Heart possibly closing. I did like to go in there every now and then, but mainly I loved going to their used stamp sale. I guess it all comes down to the fact that these smaller stores can't offer the customers bargains, and still pay their rent.
I had heard once, and have absolutely no clue if this is correct or not, that the owner of the stamp store also owned the doctor's office next door. So, rent wasn't really an issue because they owned the building. If that's true, then they must be having a hard time selling stamps. Personally, I've been in the store multiple times and never truly felt welcomed by the woman behind the counter. Maybe there are others that felt the way I did?
It's a shame, regardless. I need to get to the Mt Dora store and check it out!
Will be in Orlando at the end of March, and would love to find a stamp store in the area. Anybody out there that could help hook me up with a good store? I love to shop and I will have a newbie with me, so I can help her get the bug too!!! LOL

I'll be in Orlando next week. I'm staying at the Orlando World Center Marriot Resort. Does anyone know if there are any stamp stores close to this hotel?
There is a nice little store on Sand Lake Rd, east of Florida Mall. I'm sorry, but I don't know the name of it, I just know where it is. :( It's actually located in the shopping plaza across from Target in the (huge!) parking lot.
There are a couple of scrapbook stores still there. I believe Piktails is new! I second Stamping station, but it's an hour from orlando and a little hard to navigate to

I have their business card right next to my computer.
They mostly carry scrapbooking stuff, really nice DP, I don't remember seeing many stamps there though.

Well if you're going to be in Orlando on March 28 or 29, you should go to the scrapbook expo at the Orange County Convention Center. I went last year and it's a lot of fun. Though it's geared toward scrapbooking, there will be vendors with stamps and of course all kinds of paper and embellishments. Classes, too, if you're interested.
I was in Florida a couple of weeks ago but sadly, I could not convince DH to go looking for craft stores, LOL! I did get to go to Target (near Edgewater where my sis lives) so I wasn't too distraught! I noticed though, in the back of my Creating Keepsakes magazine there were a ton of stores in the Orlando area; they show addresses and websites if that helps; have fun!

I don't know about Orlando proper, but Mount Dora (which is about an hour or so drive from Orlando) has a WONDERFUL store -- the Stamping Station. I try to get there several times a year -- it's about 45 minutes from where I live. And, FYI, Mount Dora is a quaint little town. It's located on a huge lake and has lots of shops. I hope you can find a day to drive out there.
Lois, for future reference, can you tell me what direction that is from Orlando? My sister is in Edgewater, which I would say is northeast of Orlando, just south of Daytona. We also drove over to Ocala to see my cousin and Tampa to Busch Gardens; no wonder DH didn't want to look for craft stores, right? I did see a Michaels in Daytona but didn't go in. Sorry to hi-jack!

I'm terrible at direction -- but I would say northeast of Orlando. It's in Lake County. You can get there either by US 441 or SR 46.
Kathy-Have you ever been to Griffins in Ocala? I went there the other day and was BLOWN AWAY!! It was sooooooo amazing
Awww, don't tell me that!!! (LOL); I heard they have a Hobby Lobby there too, which we don't have up here; The day we went to Ocala, we got a late start so we went straight to my cousins and spent the afternoon at her house, then got on the road to Tampa so no shopping time for me :( ;
Lois, next time I go to see my sister, I'm definitely going to suggest a day at the lake!!!! That sounds like it must be pretty close to her and sounds like a really nice place to visit; Thanks so much!

When we go up there, we spend the whole day. There are several nice little restaurants to have lunch.
We are coming over in 4 weeks, planning to travel about a bit more this time as we have no men folks with us, shopping will be easy.
Want to visit a few more stamp shops this time, Mount Dora is twinned with my town here in Scotland and I did visit it a few trips back but not sure that I would again.
We're going to Florida for a week again this Sunday coming. I'm hoping I can get him to take me out to Mount Dora. The Stamping Station sounds like the place to go to.
Is there no Hobby Lobby in Orlando?
