Default Shoebox Swap?

Can someone explain to me what this is? I keep seeing posts about them, but I haven't found a really good explanation of what it is and what you do with it, etc...

Thanks!

I went to one and each person made a card then brought all the supplies to make the card (precut) including ink, ribbon, brads, whatever. There were stations set up for each person and all the supplies to make the card there including the original one for reference. It was fun!

Thanks Barb....anyone have a bit more details? Or does that about sum it all up?

Nope, Barb summed it up pretty well!

Look at it this way - for a regular swap, you'd cut and assemble say 20 cards. With a shoebox swap, all you have to do is make a sample and then cut the pieces for the 20 cards because everyone assembles their own.

(And it's called a shoebox swap because typically, the supplies for the project all fit into a shoebox-sized container.)

The only thing I'd add is that typically you bring your own scissors and adhesive (labeled with your name, since most will look the same!) and carry them with you to each station. I also packed my trimmer, scrub pad and mist when I went to the get-together in Macon last spring.
