Sharpie Addiction

I stopped in Wally World this morning for cold medicine and what to my wandering eyes did appear 5 new Sharpie colors in ultra fine and fine point and the dark colors that I already had in ultra fine point. I bought all three packages. The newest colors are pastel and look a little like Bliss Blue, Mint Medley, Lavendar Lace, and Pretty in Pink, and there's a peach color. OMG I'm complete addicted to Sharpies.

Jovi 09-23-2004 06:04 AM

OHHHH I love those colors..... I might have to run to WalMart today :D :D Thanks for sharing your find :D

PaperRapt 09-23-2004 06:15 AM

I'm glad the Sharpie folks finally figured out color selection is a GOOD thing! I'm not sure what took 'em so long to figure it out! They have introduced more colors in the last 4 years than ever before in their history!

sharpies

I just bought a huge pack yesterday also! In addition to paint cans, drywall tape, more mounting tape, candles, tissue paper... and more! My hubby is going to kill me! LOL I keep seeing new ideas, and have to try them out!

stampinalot 09-23-2004 06:32 AM

Will sharpies work (permanent) on dominoes and tiles? Sue

Kymbers_Stampin 09-23-2004 06:35 AM

Yep! They will work on just about anything and are all permanent.

texasjodylynn 09-23-2004 06:46 AM

dominoes

What is all the domino talk? What so we do with these? Do I need to go shopping again???? Where do we get them? Thanks... BTW I made my 1st stamped candle yesterday. I was so excited!

MICHELLE WOODERSON 09-23-2004 06:53 AM

Sharpies, yes!! I went to Staples and they had a 20 or 24 pack.....I wanted to get them soooooo bad but refrained. I did get the 4 pack of pastels though. Now what sack were those in????

NavyWyf 09-23-2004 06:54 AM

I confess to the same addiction, I have all of the sharpie colors except for the new metallic gold and copper. I could only find those in multipacks with colors I already had until this last weeked - they had a 4 apck of JUST THOSE colors at Staples but it was $4. I will wait, we're really hurting this payday! But, I'll get them eventually

Sharpie Addiction

What are the different uses you've found for the Sharpies?

Kymbers_Stampin 09-23-2004 07:06 AM

Oh no ~ I have to go to Staples at lunch today. I could break a personal record today for Sharpie purchases.

I use them for everything. I color tiles, dominos, mark the cutter at particular common points, marking my personal catalog, signing cards, just about everythign.

InsomniacRed 09-23-2004 08:00 AM

dont forget you can use them on your shrink plastic! :) works great but will be much darker after its shrunk, so use a lighter color then you want it to be...

OOOOOOOHHH! I saw the pastels in a 24 pack at Office Depot last week, but they did not have the pastels by themselves...now I gotta go to Walmart. Dang! See ya! :D

angiestamps 09-23-2004 08:32 AM

Oh man....I was at walmart yesterday and I usually go by that area but didn't yesterday. Hmmmm, what could I have to get so I can go back today...

JanTInk 09-23-2004 09:44 AM

I just got back from Walmart. Purchase report:

1 pack ultrafine pastel Sharpies, but no fine point  The store near me is always a mess, though, and it's possible they were there somewhere, but I couldn't find it, even after asking a sales associate who definitely needed to visit the deoderant aisle.

Some circular paper clips in a little metal tin like others have found! Yay!

Dymo label tapes; I just got one for scrapbooking and could not find the black replacement tape, so I got those and a pack of different colors too.

White junior legal pads.

Crayola Color Changing Markers - These are really cool for stamping; use one to ink up a shape stamp and stamp it, then use the color changer on another stamp and stamp on top. Very cool...ya gotta try 'em!

Could not find the car garages...they must not have them at this Walmart anymore.

So that's what I got, besides the very last bottle of Diet Lime coke in the cold case...it's getting hard to find around here!

Seattlejo 09-23-2004 01:02 PM

The new retractable sharpies are so much fun too

Jan thanks for the idea on the colorchanging markers. i'll have to give that a try. Might be a fun way to get my roommates kiddo stamping without letting her loose on my stuff.

jdarnall2001 09-23-2004 01:15 PM

Does anyone know if sharpies are acid free???

First off, I'm TOTALLY with you on the Diet Coke with Lime, but let's not tell anyone else for fear they buy it all!! ;)

I am going to look for the Crayola Color Changing Markers this weekend, I think I've seen them recently....

The big problem with living on a tiny island is we have only Walmart and KMart, and if they don't have it, you're outta luck! I CAN'T find the circle paper clips!!! What a bummer!! And we got a Home Depot one year ago, but they don't carry the tiles everyone uses for coasters. BUMMER!! I've been wanting to make these for ages now! :(

Now tell me about the Dymo label tapes, is this like the old style click label maker? That would be so cool in scrapbooks! Is it SB safe??

I also wrote the pastel sharpies on my list, but doubt I'll find them yet, it usually takes a little longer for us to get these cool new things! ;)

photocropper 09-23-2004 01:51 PM

Ok just got up from a much needed nap and I THINK during one of the 100 times my dd woke me up I saw Sharpies on QVC - might want to get online and look but there were 3 different tips and something about exclusive colors???? I don't think I was dreaming so go check it out!

Yes, that's the label maker you are thinking about. It's a hot new look in scrapbooking and they are acid free.

But what you can also do is put cardstock and vellum cardstock through and it embosses that too! With the cardstock, I gently pat it on top of a white craft pad to pick out the letters or use a marker on the very top of the letters to get them to show. THe vellum, of course, gets whiter when embossed so you don't have to do anything extra to it! You just need to cut your strips exactly the same width as the labels are.

photocropper 09-23-2004 02:08 PM

OK - I finally found them - they are called Slick Writers set of 30 item number F7191.
Dont know much about them at this point just wanted to clearify they are Slick Writers.....

zbownas 09-23-2004 02:29 PM

Cool Jan, it just got added to my list too!!

Jovi, I looked for them at the Powers and fountain wal marts, but didn't see them, only earth tones....

palmettostate 09-23-2004 02:44 PM

okay ...

what are car garages, and why is everyone buying drywall tape??? Jan, do you have a sample of stamping w/ the crayola color changers? That sound sooo cool.

I've only read threads on the boards today and already I have a huge shopping list!!!

No ~ Sharpies are not acid free, but then again, some of us have been writing on photos using them for years.

Hey, Jan, you go to your WalMart, buy the paperclips, I'll go to mine and buy the Sharpies and we can trade :D No clips at my WalMart.

And I forgot ~ I went to Staples, gave into the weakness and bought the metalics. I truly have not bought so many Sharpies in one day in my LIFE. I love Sharpies.

Jackie G 09-23-2004 03:58 PM

Queen Jan!!!!!!!

What is this you speak of??!!! I have 3 different Dymo labelers (a sale aisle addiction along with the 1000 sharpies I also have) and would love to hear more about the cardstock and vellum going through the labelers. Do you trim it down to the itty bitty strips??? I am in awe of your magnificient royal powers and would love to be deamed worthy of your vast knowledge of all things stamped or at least labeled.

Your humble coaster, Jackie G.
