I admit I haven't read all the posts (yet), but I've been also been doing the single layer cards lately - always white or vanilla. And I think the real secret is thick, yummy cardstock with some texture. What paper are you all using? I've been playing with SU! WW and my cards look rather flimsy to me - it really detracts from the elegant message I'm trying to send. I switched to Bazzil Linen, and that's better, but I'm looking for an upgraded paper.
This is a fabulous idea! I nominate Susan to start it, lol!
Perhaps I should...judging from the number of people choosing to celebrate simple in this thread and the Limited Supply Challenge posted by Miss Boo yesterday, we'd definitely have lots of participants!
My two cents say Susan is the one for the job!!!!!!!! Have you seen all the comments on the cards in the LSC205 CAS gallery!! I definitely feel less intimidated by them and inspired more than ever. I think you would get lots of participation especially if SCS puts a blurb about it on the home page. Go Susan Go Susan Go Susan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Simple cards always catch my eye in the gallery. When I try to do them I have a hard time pulling them off. I feel like I always need to add "something". I just have to always tell myself "Less is more".
Guess it is like make-up. Some people can pull off that whole made up look. Me, I end up looking like a clown when I try to do the glammed up look.

My cards that I made so far are happy and simple.
I have not made any fancy cards yet and I am afraid that some of you might laugh but hey, I have only been making cards for a few month now.
BTW 3 of my cards (using Dustin Pike graphics) are in my Welcome post ...here ... Forums at Splitcoaststampers
So Susan, I like to be included into your celebration of simple cards.

I just found this thread and I wanted to thank you guys!! Here's what I got from this thread so far - embrace your own personal individual style! Sometimes I look at the work here and feel indimidated in the sense that I just know my work doesn't compare - which is the point I'm making...don't (telling myself) compare cuz no, I won't be able to make a good project if I'm doing someone else's style..it will only be good if its MY style.
The next thing I got from this thread is CAS rocks and you ladies don't give yourselves enough credit. Several comments were made early on that you're CAS cuz you can't do the other...from looking at many of the examples here I have to say CAS takes a skill that is different but equally wonderful as the more intricate cards...any yeah..many of my CAS cards of one layer are BAS too!! Looking at these cards I realized why - I haven't planned the card correctly by embracing the idea...the balance of the "white" space, the choice of color etc.
I don't have any card in my gallery - nor make them as much as I'd like -and hope to change that.
My last 2 cents is while I think the idea of starting a favorites for CAS is a great idea I also think adding CAS to the orginal favorites post (which I have never looked at because the awefactor in looking at their work led to the inferiority issues mentioned above). It would be nice to add CAS to that thread to spread the diversity that is here. Make sense??
Thanks for all the great examples in this thread! Andrea who has rambled enough and is off to get more caffeine to possibly wake up!

Andrea, I actually thought about that and weighed the benefits/disadvantages of just posting there versus starting a separate thread. What tipped my feelings toward starting the new thread were two points:
1. There really do seem to be two strongly distinct groups on SCS...simple stampers who are either beginners or simple by choice (like me), and experienced stampers who prefer making more complex cards. Many of the "complex" group commented how uncomfortable they were making CAS cards for the Limited Supply Challenge. Many of the "simple" group commented how intimidating the more complex cards were and how they make their own simple cards look inadequate or unworthy. This is interesting because a while ago, it seemed to me, the regular Favorites thread included all types of cards but has shifted to focusing much more on the complex ones. There is NOTHING wrong with this...it reflects trends and the growing talent in the stamping community, and I think it's great. But CAS has somehow gotten a little lost.
2. I think if we just start putting the CAS cards in the regular favorites thread, it is harder to find them. So those of us who really want CAS inspiration will have to work harder to find it. Those who want more complex inspiration will also have to work harder. With separate threads, each type has its own place, so to speak, and it's easier for each to find what they want.
My fear in starting the separate thread is that people might think it was a judgment of one or the other as being "better"--the absolutely LAST think I want anyone to think. I love that so many people have said, as you did, that IT'S ALL GOOD!!! Whatever your style is, embrace it and nurture it. Having a separate thread allows CAS to have its confidence-building place, its place to celebrate its uniqueness.
Hope this all makes sense. In the last year, I've found myself relying more on blogs than SCS for inspiration, but there's so much here I've been missing, just because I don't have the time I'd like to surf the massive number of uploads to the gallery. I think, based on the response here, that I am not alone. Hopefully, threads like a CAS favorites thread will help.
Ok - I persevered and have uploaded my first CAS card into my gallery. Clean and simple it may be, but it certainly didn't come easy for me LOL. Maybe with more practice!
Great to see the CAS Favorites thread - I look forward to checking in with it each week to become more and more inspired!
I created a folder in my favorites (the star in the upper left corner of your screen if you're using Internet Explorer) titled "Galleries I Love" and just add any gallery that I want to go back to there.
HTH
I don't see a star. I am using internet explorer. I would love to save galleries in my favorites, too! There are so many I like to visit!
Thanks for the thread...I've found some great ideas here!
I had fun last night with a heart punch, a couple of paper scraps and a base card. Valentine's Day card
Here is one of the Christmas cards I made and I think I will make a similar card using a flower from the same set for spring.

This is a terrific thread-wish I had looked at it sooner! Thanks so much to the OP.
I only had time today to read through the first page of posts, but I made a point of commenting on all the cards posted in the thread. SUCH inspiration! When I have time I will be back to start on page 2 and add more comments.
I am a relatively CAS card maker because I just don't have the "eye" for doing all the multiples that so many others use. I like the fancy cards but sometimes think they are just too much.
I have most of the tools and toys but seem to use only only one or two of them per card.
The important thing is that I am happy with most of my cards.
Anyway, enough rambling. I am really happy I stumbled in here. Thanks for all the great ideas!
Well, thanks to this thread I went searching my gallery for some simple cards, and realized I really don't have any really simple cards! Mine aren't really necessarily hard, but definitely a fair amount of detail usually. So, I was inspired to create something just for this thread!
I want to say one thing to all the cas card makers: Please don't think that your cards are not as good as the busy ones. Making a perfect cas card isn't that simple. So don't think you are less than others.
Wow Milawi....your cards are just beautiful! Seriously, absolutely gorgeous! It's hard to remember that simple is ok....I have found myself trying to add all sorts of elements, and sometimes it ends up being too much! I personally think if you can create a beautiful simple card, that is even more wow than something with a lot of detail....because it is almost harder to create!

Thanks Amy!! I am going to bed now, but I will be back to check all the links in this thread!! Think about all the insiration I will be getting from this! Love it!! :p
You are exactly saying what I wanted to say, but I couldn't find the right words. Sometimes people say that cas cards are for beginners and I disagree, because it isn't that simple at all. It may look very simple, but it sure isn't.
Sleep well ladies! ;)
I'm so glad to find this thread and the new CAS weekly thread! CAS is my favorite style, and LateBlossom is my personal hero! She's my most frequently cased stamper, I think. I don't always succeed in keeping my cards as simple as I'd like to, but this is a recent favorite simple card I made:
Good Morning, just found this thread and am soooo happy - I too LOVE the CAS look - I have tried many times to do more involved cards but find they never seem to be quite right - as soon as I have the ability to upload a card I will send one of mine -- finally a group for moi..... LOL Gerry
