I wish...
...that there would be a thread strictly for "updates" without chatter....just like we did when the new catty started. I find myself reading all the threads for not a whole lot of info....
I keep checking back periodically, but don't see much in terms of news announced. I seem to recall hearing a lot more in prior years announced at convention. I know some of that was supposed to change with 2 sessions (i.e. announcements outside of convention), but even the last couple years it seemed to me more was said. Are people not posting or is nothing new being announced?
The reason the updates only thread happened was because mods monitored the chat threads and copied the relevant posts into the updates only thread. It was not an automatic thing.
Chatter happens naturally, so even if a thread is labelled "updates only", it gets chatter.
The updates only thread was Jenn's brilliant idea ... and worked wonderfully. However, I don't want to be the one to ask her to devote hours of her time to checking all the convention posts for info.

I agree, where is all the news?? No one is giving us anything. There was a lot more new given in past years.

When we have new catalog threads with no chatter... it requires a moderator sitting at the computer the entire time the informant (for lack of a better word LOL) is typing away. I was on vacation this year, but in 2006 I sat at the computer for like 9 hours straight.... moving... merging ..moving.. merging. We can mark a thread no chatter, but that lasts about em....3 posts. LOL! It's a great idea, though! ;)
Maybe (if there was a way to get the word out to everyone) someone could make it a guideline that if anyone has any updates/info to share, that they type their post in RED (or any other color), and the regular chatter could be left black. That way, all someone has to do is quickly scroll/skim the threads for the colored posts to get the info that they wanted.
Of course, this would require spreading the word to a LOT of people, which of course, would take a LOT of time. But it was an idea I had, so I just thought I'd mention it.
Why can't the reader show a little restraint by not posting the chit chat stuff. Just read the info and don't reply!
I do agree that this year there has been very little convention coverage worth reading. Maybe there just arn't that many thing to report on.
I agree. I keep coming and checking every few hours for info only from the convention. I try and scroll fast through the chit chat but it would be nice if the mods didn't need to do extra work to keep convention news only on a thread. Just the news please. I hope there is a lot to report on from Denver and they just haven't had time to post it yet. I did go to a few blogs to see the great pics though. Do you think that blogs will be the place to go for info? I hope not. I want it here.

Yes, I'm convinced there was no news. A combined convention next year and die cut stamps in the mini's hardly makes the trip worthwhile.

It seems to me that's why there is one labeled Demo Reports and one labeled Convention Talk. I can understand why convention-goers and demos need to discuss things like hotels, and airports, and logistics. But it would be nice for the rest of us to hear actual news. I would think it's kind of obvious for the poster which one they should be in. It's also great that there is a special place in the gallery for photos of display boards and convention samples.
